Poker Player Busts from WSOP Circuit King's Main Event in a Chop Pot; No One Caught It!

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Hand
Hand

You can chalk this one up in the "never seen that before" poker category. Pierre Kauert busted in sixth place in the WSOP Circuit Main Event at King's Casino on...get this...a heads-up chop pot.

Yes, that's right, he became the first player ever, at least on a live stream, to be eliminated from a tournament in a hand he didn't actually lose. No one, not even the announcers, caught the mistake, and by the time it was discovered the pot should have been chopped, it was too late.

"It does fall under player and dealer responsibility and cannot really do anything about it at this point. If it wasn’t live streamed it would never have been realized and so we just move on," World Poker Tour's Executive Tour Director Matt Savage, who was not associated with the event, explained to PokerNews when asked how he would have proceeded.

Meran Forces Fold From Baumstein

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Alberto Meran & Scott Baumstein
Alberto Meran & Scott Baumstein

In a preflop three-bet pot to the {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} turn with some 47,000 in the middle, Scott Baumstein had bet 19,400 out of the small blind in the last hand before the break. Alberto Meran on the button then pushed all-in for 161,600 and that sent Baumstein into the tank for more than five minutes.

Some three minutes into the break, Baumstein folded and the pot was pushed to Meran. Chance Kornuth was trying to get Meran to show his cards but that request was denied, and guessing the cards only resulted in some friendly table chatter.

Chen Doubles Through Heath

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Andrew Chen
Andrew Chen

Andrew Chen made it 3,000 to go from under the gun and then opted to call a raise to 9,000 by Ben Heath in the cutoff.

Following a {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, Chen checked and Heath bet around 40,000 which covered the stack of Chen. The latter pondered about it for a short while and called all-in.

Andrew Chen: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}
Ben Heath: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The pair of Chen remained ahead all the way on the {7-Hearts} turn and {5-Diamonds} river, leaving Heath on fumes.

Antonius Doubles Up

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

On a heads-up turn of {6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Spades}, Patrick Antonius was first to act and he chose a bet size of 8,000. His opponent, David Stamm, thought about it for a second before he made the call and the two went to the {3-Spades} river.

Antonius then moved all in for 17,500 and after a few moments, Stamm made the call. Antonius then flipped over {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a rivered full house and Stamm mucked his hand.

Antonius was then awarded the pot for a successful double up to 70,000.

Guilbert Caught Speeding with Seven-Deuce

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Johan Guilbert
Johan Guilbert

Igor Yaroshevskyy limped in from the small blind and then called after Johan Guilbert made it 5,500 from the big blind.

Yaroshevskyy check-called for 4,000 on the {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop before the {9-Diamonds} turn checked through to the {7-Diamonds} river.

Yaroshevskyy, with 17,500 behind, then led out for 1,500. Guilbert went into the tank for two minutes before moving all in as the bigger stack. Yaroshevskyy called, but passed Guilbert his chips thinking his opponent had him crushed.

However, Guilbert tabled his {7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} which meant he was playing the flush on the board. Yaroshevskyy had the winner with his {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and doubled up.
