Large Field Expected for Day 1b of the 2022 Poker Dream Vietnam Main Event

The second and penultimate starting day of the 2022 Poker Dream Vietnam VND 25,000,000 (~ $1,019) Main Event is slated to get underway at 1pm local time. All things point towards a stellar turnout for the crown jewel of the new live poker series in the Asia-Pacific region and there is little doubt that the VND 10,000,000,000 (~ $407,000) guarantee will be surpassed by a significant amount.

Yesterday's first flight attracted a field if 293 entries and 72 players advanced to Day 2 at the luxury five-star Hoiana Resort & Golf near Hoi An and an even bigger turnout is expected for the second regular starting day. All players receive 30,000 in chips and 12 levels of 40 minutes each are scheduled for Day 1b. The late registration and re-entry period is open for the first nine levels until approximately 8.20 pm local time with a break every three levels and a 50-minute dinner break to take advantage of the nearby buffet in the Hotel resort.

Players can participate in multiple starting days even if they have already bagged up chips in a previous starting day. If they advance more than once, the larger chip tally will be carried over to Day 2 while the lower stack is taken out of play. On Day 2, the level duration increases to 50 minutes each whereas the final day will feature levels of 60 minutes each.

One further chance awaits for all those who prefer the more fast-paced turbo heat 1c as of 8pm, which has a level duration of 20 minutes each and just one break. The late registration closes at approximately 11.30pm for that one and the action concludes until the last flight has reached the combined average stack of all qualifiers in the previous two heats.

It seems very likely that the attendance record of the inaugural Poker Dream Malaysia 2022 Main Event at the Resorts World Genting in Kuala Lumpur back in July 2022 with 654 entries will be surpassed. The prize pool back then reached nearly three times of the initial guarantee, a scenario that may be too far-fetched for Hoi An. Notable finalists were Eric Wasylenko, Wai Kiat Lee, Danny Huynh, and David Erquiaga. Lee has already been playing in other events during the stop and Erquiaga bagged a healthy stack on Day 1a.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the tournament floor from start to finish for what shapes up to be an exciting next few days of live poker action in Asia. All updates will focus on Day 1b while the final chip counts for 1c will be provided later on as well.
