Eng Soon Ewe lost another small pot in a battle of the blinds with Ajitpal Singh and the next hand saw an open raise to 200,000 by Gary Thompson with the J♣10♣. Takashi Ogura flat-called with the 4♠4♣ in the big blind and both players checked the 8♣7♦3♠ flop, which led them to the Q♣ turn.
Ogura checked again and Thompson bet 170,000 into 550,000, as Ogura stuck around with his pair. The Japanese checked the 8♠ river, too, and Thompson mulled over his next move for a while. The Irishman checked it down and Ogura won the pot to take over the lead.
