Lee Sets Up Wang to Extend Lead

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Jeho Lee
Jeho Lee

Day 3 is fast becoming the Jeho Lee show, with the Korean player using his monster stack like a club to beat the rest of the field into submission. The man on the receiving end of Lee's latest beating is Yang Wang, with the pair clashing in a huge hand that saw Lee nearly double his holdings.

Both players were super deep at the start of the hand, Lee sitting on close to 1.3 million, while Wang had around 950,000 or so. It was Lee who was the initial aggressor, making it 27,000 to go from the cutoff and Wang eyed up Lee's stack and made the call from the small blind, with big blind Lin Zhe Chen also coming along for the ride.

It was three-way to a flop of {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}, which was checked over to Lee, who continuation bet 40,000. Wang thought long and hard about it, cutting out chips for a raise before deciding against it and just sliding in the call. Chen folded to take the action heads-up to the {6-Clubs} turn.

A quick check from Wang brought another bet from Lee, this one for 100,000, which Wang called quickly. The {q-Clubs} river brought a third check from Wang and Lee reached for chips, lots of chips, pushing out a big two-handed bet of 375,000.

Wang sat back in his chair while he mulled it over. Should he call and lose he would drop down to 464,000 should he call and lose. That's exactly what happened as well, and after several minutes in the tank, Wang flicked in a yellow 1k chip to represent the call and Lee immediately rolled over {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for a flopped set of tens.

An unhappy Wang counted out the chips to pay off Lee, who now has a massive 2.2 million stack and a healthy lead, with his next closest rival Liang song, who has around 1.1 million.

Chao Flushes Out Luo

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Zhang Chao
Zhang Chao

China's Zhang Chao had been quiet as of late as one of the shorter stacks. However, we caught her in action in a hand against fellow countryman Qi Luo that cost the latter his tournament life, and gave Chao some new chips with which to assault the leaderboard with.

Down to her last 160,000 or so, Chao moved all-in from under-the-gun and the action folded around to Luo on the cutoff, who quickly announced the call for his tournament life. The rest of the table got out of the way and the cards were turned over.

Zhang Chao: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Qi Luo: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Luo had the lead, but the flop fell an extremely sweaty {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts}, much to Chao's excitement. The {j-Clubs} turn saw Chao's flush come straight in, which she celebrated with an excited squeal, while Luo gave a disgusted huff and, now drawing dead, got to his feet and began packing up his stuff.

The meaningless {6-Clubs} river saw the pot shipped Chao's way and she climbed to 260,000 while Luo headed off to the cash desk to collect his winnings.

Double for Sarmiento

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Diego Sarmiento
Diego Sarmiento

Both Italy's Mauro Francolini and Spain's Diego Sarmiento are left in the running, adding some international flair to a field full of players from the Asia-Pacific region. Francolini is sitting on a stack of 350,000 presently, and Sarmiento now has more chips with which to attempt his Main Event victory, courtesy of tablemate Jian Han.

It was a battle of the blinds, with Sarmiento moving all-in for close to 240,000 or so from the small blind and the action was on Han in the big blind. The Chinese player did not take long to announce the call and the cards were revealed.

Diego Sarmiento: {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Jian Han: {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Sarmiento held a narrow lead, pairing his six on the monochrome {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. However, with the {j-Clubs} in hand, Han was drawing extremely live.

"I don't know if I can win on this flop..." said Sarmiento pessimistically, getting to his feet. The Spaniard needn't have worried though, with the {q-Diamonds} turn and {5-Hearts} bricking out to grant him a much-needed double and he climbed to 500,000, while Han dropped to 640,000.

Yang Gets Chao

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Xiao Tian Yang
Xiao Tian Yang

Zhang Chao's Main Event is over, with recent arrival at her table, Xiao Tian Yang, the man to send her to the rail. It was a battle of the blinds between the pair, with all the chips going in pre-flop.

Xiao Tian Yang: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Zhang Chao: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The last time Chao found herself trailing to a decent-sized pair she hit the flop hard, but on this occasion, despite pairing her eight on the flop, there was no further help to be found on the {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} runout, meaning Yang's tens were good and Chao's time was up. Chao headed for the exit while Yang stacked up to 1.1 million.

Ho Doubles Through Du

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Hong Kong's Chi Chung Ho has earned a double up at the expense of China's Qi Cheng Du, with all the chips going in pre-flop.

Chi Chung Ho: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Qi Cheng Du: {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

Ho had moved all-in from early position, with Du looking him up from the blinds. The Hong Kong player was at risk, but held the better ace. Ho maintained his lead on the {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop. While it looked a little dicey for Ho when Du paired his four on the {4-Diamonds} turn, the {10-Diamonds} river saved his tournament and saw him stack up 375,000 while Du dropped to 482,000.

Wang and Francolini Get Shoves Through, Double For Siu

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Steven Siu
Steven Siu

After his earlier misadventure against chip leader Jeho Lee, Yang Wang has been quiet and is getting short. The Chinese player moved all-in from under-the-gun for 201,000 but found no customers to take the blinds and antes.

Another player who managed to get a shove through was Mauro Francolini, who moved all-in for 239,000 in total from the button, over the top of a Liang Song 35,000 cutoff open. Song tanked long and hard, but Francolini gave nothing away and the Chinese player eventually mucked his cards to drop to 650,000 and leave Francolini to scoop the blinds and antes.

Over on the feature table we arrived in time to see Hong Kong's Steven Siu catch a much needed double up at the expense of Jie Sun, with the two players getting all the chips in pre-flop.

Steven Siu: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Jie Sun: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

It was a race, with Siu taking the lead on the {6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. Siu had a sweat with the appearance of the {9-Diamonds} turn, giving Sun a backdoor flush draw, but the {3-Hearts} river was a blank and saw Siu lock in the double, climbing to 400,000, while Sunn dropped to 100,000.
