Shin Doubles Through Tang

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Jia Tang was cruising along with a decent-sized stack, but that is no longer the case after tangling with Jae Wook Shin in a hand. It was Tang who was the initial aggressor, raising on the button with Shin defending from the big blind.

The flop came down {4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, Shin checked the action over to Tang, who made a continuation bet, and Shin busted out the check-raise, which Tang called to bring the pair to the {6-Hearts} turn.

Now he had seized the betting lead Shin was loath to lose it, and came out firing, with Tang making the call to keep the duo in action to the {7-Hearts} river. Shin shoved for 190,000 into the already sizable pot and Tang hit the think tank hard. Eventually, he reached a decision and slammed down the call.

Jae Wook Shin: {4-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Jia Tang: {4-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

Given the heavy nature of the betting both pre and post-flop, it came of something of a surprise to see the hands both players turned over, but it was Shin who had the best of it with a straight, which was good for a chunky pot and he powered into the chip lead with a stack of 600,000, while Tang was left with a 27,000 bowl of rice.
