A-A vs. K-K vs. Q-Q

Peco Stojanovski just dragged a pot worth 13,000. His pocket Aces held up in a three-way pot against pocket Kings and pocket Queens. All the money went into preflop. Both of his opponents were eliminated.

Bryce Tickner Starts His Tourney Right

Don't you wish you could start every tournament like this?

Bryce Tickner limped in from UTG, the button limped, the small blind completed and the big blind checked. The flop was {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Both blinds checked to Tickner, who bet 200. The button called and the blinds called. The turn was the {K-Hearts}. Again it was checked to Tickner, who bet 400. The button raised to 1,000, the small blind called, the big blind folded, and Tickner called. The river was the {9-Spades}. The small blind moved all in, Tickner called and the button called as well.

The small blind turned up {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for a straight. The button had the same straight with {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs} but Tickner had the stone nuts with {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.

Aii ya!

After the hand, Tickner was up to 12,000 in chips.

Let's Race!

I took a quick stroll through the room and caught three eliminations. All were races.

A-K vs J-J
A-Q vs 4-4
A-J vs 10-10

The pocket pairs went 1 for 3. Only the Jacks held up. The two other times, the players happened to flop an Ace.

Tim Duckworth Busted

Tim Duckworth was down to his last 1,000 in chips and moved all in preflop. Jason Caughton called from the big blind.

Caughton: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Duckworth: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}

The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and the river was the {5-Hearts}. Caughton's Kings held up and Duckworth headed to the rail.
