Go-Go-Gao!

Gao: takes a chunk of change from Khouiss
Gao: takes a chunk of change from Khouiss
We caught the action on a flop that read {2-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}; Sammy Khouiss led out for 1,600, Rayan Nathan flat-called but Jie Gao popped it up to 5,600. Khouiss called and Nathan got out of the way.

The dealer peeled off the {K-Hearts} on the turn - Khouiss announced that he was all-in. Gao snap-called all-in for 10,400.

Gao: {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Khouis: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}

Needing the board to pair or the case deuce, the river was of no help to Khouiss as it bricked out the {4-Spades}. Gao doubles through back up to 20,000 and change.

Neilson Ships Monster Without Raising a Sweat

The ever-casual Daniel Neilson was just involved in a monster pot - not that you could tell by his relaxed body language, as shipping big pots is nothing new to this young gun.

In a strange hand, Neilson limped under the gun and two more players followed suit before the big blind raised to 1,000. Neilson then made it 3,000 to go as the limpers got out of the way before the big blind called.

On the {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} flop things got a little crazy. In a quick succession of bets, the big blind checked, Neilson bet 3,800, the big blind check-raised to 10,000 and Neilson moved all in. The big blind immediately open-folded his pocket kings, conceding that Neilson had a monstrous hand.

Neilson moves up to 35,000 chips.

Topakas Will Need To Repechage

The show is over for today
The show is over for today
It's an early end to the day for Steve "The Big Show" Topakas after he went broke in a multi-way pot with the chips in on a {8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop.

The action was checked to the button-player who bet 4,000 and the table folded back to Topakas who moved all in for around 7,000. His opponent made the call with {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} as Topakas was in a little trouble with his {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {A-Clubs} and river the {5-Diamonds} and Topakas is eliminated and likely to make use of the repechage tomorrow.

Raj Rushed Out, Cohen Climbs

Raj: eliminated
Raj: eliminated
It was three-way action between Raj Ramakrishnan, Clint Cohen and another opponent on the button on a flop that read {10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} - The button opened for 700, Cohen raised it to 10,000, Ramakrishnan shoved for 14,500 and both players called.

Cohen: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Ramakrishnan: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Ramakrishan and the opponent on the button were both all in for their tournament lives but got some hope when the {Q-Diamonds} appeared on the turn.

However the river was a useless {2-Spades}; Cohen's set held up and sent Ramakrishnan and the other opponent to the rail.

As a result, Cohen is now the unofficial chipleader on 61,500.

Seri Doubles With The Ladies

Billy Seri has doubled up and ended the day for one opponent after the players committed their chips on a flop of {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Seri held {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and a dominant position as his opponent flipped {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. The turn was the {6-Hearts} and river the {8-Hearts} as Seri now stacks up close to 40,000 chips.

Sach Rues Fold

Jim Sachinidis is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, but no one can blame him for showing some frustrations after the following hand went down.

The action flop was {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} where the action checked to Sachinidis who fired 1,500. A player in the cutoff made it 4,000 and the player under the gun called the 4,000 cold. Sach took another look at his {6-?}{4-?} and decided to let it go.

The turn then fell the {4-Clubs} and Sach stood and walked from the table in disgust, but the story doesn't end there. His opponents got their money in the middle with one showing {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} for the rockets while the other had {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Sach was ropable that we would've stacked both and won a 60k pot!

Then, just to rub some more salt into the wound, the river was the {4-Hearts} as Sach misses the chance to make quads as the pot was shipped to his opponent.

Gurung Slips

Milan Gurung raised to 425 from middle position and found himself two callers. They went to a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Gurung fired 1,300 and again both opponents called.

The {Q-Spades} was checked through before the {a-Spades} hit the river. Gurung released a bet of 3,100 and one folded before his other opponent tank-called.

Gurung flipped {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} but he'd been rivered by his opponent's {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Gurung, who won the Pot Limit Omaha event during the week, slips back to 10,000.

Nathan Takes It to the Champ

Kaselias: never easy going for a defending champ!
Kaselias: never easy going for a defending champ!
In a hand just as the players were heading off for the first break of the day, Rayan Nathan limped in preflop before 2008 PokerNews Cup Main Event champion Nali 'Iraqi Nick' Kaselias raised it up to 400. The opponent in the big blind called, as did Nathan to see a flop of {3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}.

The big blind and Nathan checked to Kaselias who fired out 650. The big blind folded but Nathan quickly threw out a raise of 2,350.

Kaselias looked uncomfortable at the speed of Nathan's bet - he went into the tank for about two minutes before letting his hand go into the muck.

Nathan is back up to 30,000 while Kaselias slips to 15,000 as the room clears for what the Aussies call 'smoko'.
