The check down is a useful tool in any rock's arsenal.

Ben Savage put it to use recently. After opening to 15,000 from the cutoff, he had Nick Haidaris call from the button.

The flop came {10-Hearts}

. Not liking the flop Savage opted for the check and Haidaris followed suit.

They then checked through the {5-Diamonds}

turn and

{2-Diamonds}

river. Savage tabled his {K-Clubs}

but was beaten by the {A-Spades}

{A-Spades}

{q-Diamonds}

ace-high of Haidaris.
