With the Day 2 now in the books, all involved are now off for a good sleep before they return on Monday to discover who will leave King's Casino as the ninth champion of the PokerNews Cup and bring home the top prize of €37,229.

Day 2 kicked off at 14:00 CET, when the 190 players still in the €250 Main Event took their seats in the tournament room. With many short stacks still in play, a lot of players hit the rails during the early stages. The eliminations came so fast that the field was already down to 130 players before the second level of play finished.

Day 1a chip leader Rytas Staniukynas started Day 2 in the top spot overall with a stack of 446,000. Not too far behind him were Germany's Jens Dengler and fellow Lithuanian Tomas Steponkus with 412,000 and 339,500, respectively. Ten hours later, when the dealers asked the remaining 16 who advanced to Day 3 to bag their stacks, none of those three were still in the tournament.

Staniukynas was the only one to cash in the event thanks to a 24th-place finish worth €1,183.

When the day ended, it was German poker pro Daniel Can bagged the biggest stack, and he will start Day 3 of the Main Event with an impressive 3,445,000 in chips.

In the second spot of the chip counts was Hermanus van Beek with a stack of 2,655,000. Hailing from The Netherlands, van Beek has already managed to win a side bet thanks to his deep run in the tournament.

"I bet with some other guys that I would be the last Dutch standing in the Main Event and here I am, I won the bet," van Beek shared with PokerNews.

Slovakia's Marian Uharcek will begin Day 3 in the third spot on the podium with 2,610,000 in chips. With the first player to leave the game tomorrow being guaranteed a cash prize of €1,765, Uharcek has already secured the second-biggest payday in his career.

Also amongst those who will be back for Day 2, is France's Benoit Kuhn, the member of the BKRF Investments team who ended Day 1c with the biggest stack. The outspoken and talkative player who has repeatedly tried to tilt his opponents with his chatter has already bested his top result in the PokerNews Cup so far, as last February he cashed for $1,017 with a 62nd-place finish.

Germany's Erich Ott was the one who had the ungenerous honor to burst the bubble as he left the tournament in 80th place. As reported in our live blog, Ott jammed his remaining 80,000 in chips on the bubble and was called by Volkan Alkan. A crowd gathered around the table as Ott turned over the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}, and he was ahead preflop against Alkan's {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

Ott began sweating when Alkan picked up a flush on the {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. The {k-Spades} hit the turn to give Alkan a leading pair, and then the river completed the board with the {5-Diamonds}. That only made matters worse, as it gave Alkan a flush, and Ott was out.

There will also be no Day 3 for Germany's Elena Litvinyuk, winner of the World Series of Poker Circuit Ladies Event that took place here in Rozvadov earlier this month. Determined to best her €2,331 cash in the WSOP Circuit event, Litvinyuk was the last woman standing in the event when she went out of the tournament in 41st place for €795. Out as well, but not in the money, was Lewis Murrey. The Aussie has been trying to finance his trip around Europe through playing in poker events, but his visit to Rozvadov did not support his cause.

Similarly, Timothy Claude Weltner will not coming back on Monday. The player from Berlin who won the PokerNews Cup Opening Event for €2,607 on Wednesday, explained that his bust out hand had a lot to do with his lack of experience in live poker.

"I announced a raise when the action wasn't on me," Weltner explained. "When the player to my right reacted to my mistake by going all in, I thought I had to do the same, so I called him and lost my chance to progress in the Main Event. I should have at least asked someone if I had the chance to do something else and if I could have avoided going all in."

Coverage of the Main Event will resume Monday at 14:00 CET with blinds at 100,000/200,000 and a 10,000 ante. Returning players are guaranteed a €1,765 payout, however, everyone has their eyes on the top prize of €37,229. Stay tuned at PokerNews for live coverage until a winner is determined.

Jarek Hin Eliminated in 17th Place (€1,765)

Level 24 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante
Janek Hin
Janek Hin

Estonia's Janek Hin just became the last casualty of the day. First, he lost almost all chips to Hermanus van Beek, and his stack was enough just big enough to pay the ante.

Philip Kämpf raised the action to 160,000. All other players folded and the action unfolded.

Philip Kämpf: {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Hin: {Q-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Board: {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Spades}

Hin was unable to hit any part of the board, and was eliminated in 17th place for €1,765. Hin was our last casualty of the day. We will post updated chip counts of the remaining 16 players within the next hour.

The final day of play in the PokerNews Cup Main Event will take place tomorrow at 14:00 CET.

Gerold Steinhart
Gerold Steinhart

Gerold Steinhart is out in 21st place banking €1,377. In three-bet preflop pot, Steinhart jammed a flop {J-}{9-}{3-} flop with {A-}{K-}. Unfortunately for him, Claudius Istrate had an easy call to make with a set of nines.

Istrate's hand held to scoop a 1.6 million chip pot and he now has 3.5 million chips, while Steinhart is busy collecting his cash at the cashier.

Also eliminated on another table at the same time was Sylvan Sattler in 20th place for €1,571.

All Men Affair After Elena Litvinyuk Eliminated in 41st Place for €795

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Elena Litvinyuk
Elena Litvinyuk

A couple of weeks ago, Germany's Elena Litvinyuk won the WSOP Circuit King's Casino Women's Event for €2,331. Litvinyuk and her friends around King's Casino were all hoping she would improve on that cash in the PokerNews Cup Main Event.

The dreams of Litvinyuk and her friends are over as she was just eliminated from the tournament in 41st place. In the bustout hand, the action folded around to Litvinyuk in the small blind who jammed for about 225,000 chips all-in with {7-}{7-}. Normally a player would feel good about this jam from the small blind, since even if called it is usually a coin flip or someone calling with ace rag with a kicker lower than a seven.

The player in the big blind, however, woke up with {J-}{J-}. Litvinyuk was very behind before the flop and was unable to improve her hand with the help of the board.

Bubble Breaks - Erich Ott Eliminated in 80th Place

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Erich Ott
Erich Ott

Erich Ott jammed his remaining 80,000 chips on the bubble and was called by Volkan Alkan. A crowd gathered around the table as Ott turned over {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} to be ahead preflop against Alkan's {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

Ott began sweating when Alkan was now drawing to a flush as well as well as a potential over-pair on a {6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. Ott was in big trouble drawing to just 1 out when the {k-Spades} hit the turn. To make matters worse, Alkan completed his flush when the {5-Diamonds} spiked the river.

Upon the conclusion of the hand, the crowd applauded with players celebrating that they are now guaranteed to be paid at least €660.

Lewis Murray to Continue Backpacking in Europe

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Lewis Murray
Lewis Murray

Australian backpacker has been trying to finance his trip around Europe through playing in poker events. He was dreaming of winning the event for the top prize of €37,229 so he could continue traveling until his heart was content and still have a few bucks left over.

Unfortunately for Murray, he exited the tournament before the money. The Aussie started the bustout hand with seven big blinds and play folding around to him. He jammed {A-}{10-} and was unable for his hand to hold against his opponent's {Q-}{J-}.

Lewis Murray, who cashed in the Opening Event, displayed solid play throughout the Main Event and the PokerNews Cup side events. We hope to see more of him in other tournaments where he hopes to have better success.

Wansa Trensch
Wansa Trensch

More players including Thailand's Wansa Trensch exit the tournament. Trensch entered all four opening days, and qualified late last night in the turbo-charged Day 1D flight. Although she is originally from Thailand, her trip won't be that far, since she currently lives in Germany.

Get Ready For the PokerNews Cup Main Event Day 2

Rytas Staniukynas
Rytas Staniukynas

In just half and hour, action will resume in the PokerNews Cup Main Event, as the 190 players out of the 820 entrants participating in the first four flights are getting ready for battle for a piece of the €200,000 prize pool.

A little less than half the field - or 79 players - will cash in the tournament for at least €660. However, players have their eye on the huge top prize of €37,229 that will be awarded at the end of Day 3 to the winner.

Currently it is Day 1A chip leader Rytas Staniukynas from Lithuania sitting on top of the field with a healthy 446,000 chip stack with blinds set to resume at 3,000/6,000. Not too far behind him is Germany's Jens Dengler (second place - 412,000 chips), Lithuania's Tomas Steponkus (third place - 339,500 chips), Germany's Benoit Kuhn (fourth place - 325,500 chips), and Poland's Marek Bartoszewicz (fifth place - 305,000 chips).

According to the big board, the average chip stack is currently at 129,473 chips, representing about 21.5 big blinds. Even though there are many short-stacks in play, there is plenty of time for players to get in the mix as blind levels are 45 minutes for Day 2 as compared to the 30 minute levels present in the first three opening flights and the 15 minute levels featured in last turbo opening flight late yesterday. Also, tables will featured eight-handed play, or one player less per table than entrants played on during the opening flights.

Stay tuned to our live reporting here at PokerNews for updates throughout the day.
