Day 1c of Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series Event #55: 2022 PokerNews Cup $1,100 will get underway at 11 a.m. local time on what will be the third of three starting days in this $1 Million Guarantee event. It is expected to be the largest field yet with yesterday hitting 455 entries to make for 636 total over the first two starting days.

Day 1a was led by Shea Quintin and Daniel Hinh. Day 1b had three players bag larger stacks than them as Daniel Fuhs has the overall lead thus far with 709,000

The $1 Million guarantee will be made up of $1,100 entries. Each entry will garner a stack of 30,000. Reentry is unlimited and will be open until the start of Level 13. The very last possible late entries will be around 8:45 p.m. local time tonight.

Biles and Botfeld Bust in Level 3

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Oliver Biles
Oliver Biles

Eric Ford opened for 900 from the hijack and was called by Joshua Martin on the button. Oliver Biles then moved all in for 4,100 from the small blind. Ford four-bet to 10,000 and Martin mucked to set up the all-in showdown.

"That's not good," said Biles as the cards were turned over.

Oliver Biles: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Eric Ford: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Ford paired his queen on the {q-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop and secured the elimination following the {6-Diamonds} turn and {k-Spades} river.

Another notable name that also hit the rail early was Amanda Botfeld. She was all in preflop with king-queen but was ousted after her opponent made a flush with their {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Barner Busts Michalak

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
John Michalak
John Michalak

Tammy Barner was seen pulling in a big pot into her stack. She recapped the hand to PokerNews:

Barner opened to 1,100 with {q-}{q-} from under the gun and was called by John Michalak from the next seat over. The button three-bet before Barner made it 18,000. Michalak then moved all in which pushed out the button but Barner called.

Michalak had pocket kings and was in great shape for a double up. However, the river was a queen which gave Barner a set and the rights to the pot.

Blake Vita was on the button and raised to 43,500. Imejjane thought for a while before eventually calling.

Yaser Al-Keliddar
Yaser Al-Keliddar

The cutoff raised to 6,000, the button called and Yaser Al-Keliddar called in the big blind.

The flop came all clubs {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, it checked around. The turn was the {q-Spades}. The cutoff bet 6,500, the button called and Al-Keliddar raised it up to 14,000, the cutoff called and the button got out of the way.

His opponent got up to leave as he was busted and rolled over the {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the second nut flush, the victim of a big cooler as Al-Keliddar took down the big pot.

Fillipe On Fire

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Alen Fillipe
Alen Fillipe

Alen Fillipi won a string of hands in a row. The first one being when he called a bluff of queen high {q-Spades}{3-Clubs} on a board of {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades} when his opponent bet 38,000 on the river and Fillipi called with the {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The next hand Fillipe busted his opponent holding {7-}{7-} with his {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} in a preflop all in when the board ran out {j-Clubs}{6-}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{9-Clubs} to bring in the flush to overcome the turned set.

A couple of hands later, Maxwell Young felt the wrath of Fillipe when he got it in on the flop of {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, when Young was holding the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} while Fillipe had the flush draw with the {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. The turn connected the flush as the {a-Clubs} came off and the river was the {10-Hearts} to bust Young and give Fillipe another pot in his rush of chips.
