Peters Wins Another Battle With Carrel Before Break

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

David Peters was in the small blind and fired 33,000, a bit over a pot of what looked to be around 25,000. His opponent, Charlie Carrel in the big blind, considered his options on the board of {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{a-Spades}. After thinking a bit, Carrel called clock on himself. The tournament director began keeping the time, but Carrel called about 15 seconds later. Peters showed him {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the straight, and Carrel ceded another pot to his American opponent.

Players have headed on a 20-minute break.

Perkins and McKeehen Crushing Early

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Bill Perkins defended his big bind from an Oleksii Khoroshenin cutoff open and checked a {j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop. Khoroshenin bet 6,000 and Perkins made it 18,000 to go. Khoroshenin called, and Perkins jammed on the {9-Spades} turn. Khoroshenin considered briefly and mucked.

At another table, we found Joe McKeehen sliding forward a big bet of 57,000 on a board of {8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Big blind Justin Bonomo quickly cut out calling chips and slid them in. McKeehen turned over {j-Spades}{9-Spades} ad Bonomo immediately showed what looked like {k-}{9-} before realizing it wasn't a chop as McKeehen held a jack-high straight. The pink-haired American mucked, and the former World Series of Poker champ added to stack that's challenging for the lead.

Zaichenko Busted; Heath Back

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Andrey Zaichenko had his last 26,300 in from middle position, and Stephen Chidwick put him at risk from the big blind.

Chidwick: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Zaichenko: {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out in Chidwick's favor: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{q-Clubs}. Zaichenko took his leave, while Ben Heath walked in with a freshly bought stack, having used his reentry.

McDonald Check-Raises

Level 5 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Steve O'Dwyer was first to act and raised to 5,000. Big blind Mike McDonald called.

McDonald check-called a bet of 6,000 on the {J-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop and 16,000 on the {9-Diamonds} turn. McDonald checked a third time on the {2-Diamonds} river and O'Dwyer bet 50,000. McDonald shoved for 62,600 and O'Dwyer added the 12,600 more to call. McDonald showed {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} for the rivered full house and O'Dwyer open mucked his {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.
