Gerard Pique Eliminated by Sam Greenwood

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Gerrard Pique
Gerrard Pique

Gerard Pique and Sam Greenwood were both on their second bullet and Pique was moved to the table just a few minutes ago.

Pique's raise in the hijack was called by Greenwood on the button and the flop came {K-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Pique bet 15,000 and Greenwood called before the {3-Clubs} appeared on the turn. Pique slowed down and checked, before calling a bet worth 10,000 by Greenwood.

On the {8-Diamonds} river, Pique checked with just 27,500 behind and Greenwood bet 60,000. The shot clock ran down to just two seconds when Pique sighed and called all in. Greenwood showed {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and Pique briefly flashed {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} before leaving the tournament area.

Lebedev; Kurganov and Gieles Eliminated

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Within quick succession, Sergey Lebedev, Luuk Gieles and Igor Kurganov have all been eliminated.

Lebedev was already all in and at risk preflop for the remainder of his short stack while Manig Loeser bet the {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} flop to force out the third player in the hand. Lebedev showed {10-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Loeser turned over {J-Spades}{10-Spades}.- The {4-Hearts} turn kept Lebedev in the lead, but Loeser got there on the {2-Spades} river.

Then, Gieles moved all in and Stephen Chidwick asked for a count. Gieles was at risk for 72,000 and was called, turning over {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}. Chidwick held {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the board came {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{A-Clubs} to eliminate the Dutchman.

Malnik Out, Reixach Rich

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Moments after doubling through Igor Yaroshevskyy, Ariel Malnik busted. We missed the hand but table mate [Removed:564] was kind enough to tell us the details.

Malnik opened the button for 10,000 and big blind Sergi Reixach 3-bet to 45,000. A big shove followed by Malnik and Reixach called.

Sergi Reixach: {K-}{K-}
Ariel Malnik: {J-}{J-}

The board didn't improve Malnik and he headed to the rail just moments before the end of the last level of registration.

[Removed:564] busted 2 hands later, but we have no further details.

Kenney and Schwippert Among the Early Leaders

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

While it is still a long way to go in this single day high roller, Jan Eric Schwippert and Bryn Kenney are off to a flying start. Schwippert called the open-shove of Oleksii Khoroshenin with the {A-Spades}{J-Spades} in the small blind and Khoroshenin had a flip with {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The board came {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and that sent Khoroshenin to the rail.

The Casualties Keep on Coming

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Pete Chen, Nick Petrangelo, Juha Helppi, John Juanda and Charlie Carrel have all been eliminated. All but Chen and Carrel are already back in with their single re-entry and Chen may still do so as well.

As for Carrel, he busted for the second time today when his {K-}{J-} on the button failed to hold up against the {A-}{Q-} of Imad Derwiche.

Schwartson Takes Two

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Ben Tollerene defended his big blind against a raise by Mortan Holm Schwartson from under the gun and check-called a bet of 11,000 on the {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop. Tollerene checked the {K-Spades} turn and folded to Schwartson's bet of 8,000.

One hand later, Christoph Volgelsang raised to 9,000 from early position and Tollerene called in the small blind. Schwartson in the big blind simply moved all in, having both opponents covered, and raked in the pot without showdown.
