Tanaka Takes From Zisimopoulos, Addamo Snatches Lead

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Georgios Zisimopoulos opened the action with a raise to 3,000 from middle position with Shinobu Tanaka the only caller and the flop came down {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

This brought a check from Zisimopoulos and a bet of 7,600 from Tanaka, which the Greek player called and it was off to the {10-Spades} turn.

Zisimopoulos checked for the second time and Tanaka fired again, this time for 14,200 and the Greek player called once more to bring the action to the {a-Diamonds} river.

A third check from Zisimopoulos saw Tanaka reach for chips again, with the Japanese player betting 19,000 which was enough to win him the hand and he climbed to 105,000 while Zisimopoulos dropped to just below starting stack.

Another player who now has a stack very close to what he began the day with is Canlin Chen, who recently lost a sizable pot to Michael Addamo.

We caught the action on the river with a ton of chips already in the center of the table with the community cards reading {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, just as Addamo led for 50,000.

Chen check-raised to put Addamo to the test, moving all-in for around 143,000. Addamo tanked and used his last remaining timebank chip before calling with 3-seconds to spare on the shot clock.

Chen grimaced and rolled over {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} but this was not enough to beat Addamo’s {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} and the Aussie player climbed to 290,000 while Chen slumped to 42,1000.

Wu Doubles Through Sammartino

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Sai Wu was among the early casualties in a big pot against Yang Wang and has bought back in recently. Down to less than the starting stack she just got it in with the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} from the small blind and Dario Sammartino on the button looked her up with {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and the board of {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} let Wu double.

Sammartino was left with half the starting stack and has some work ahead with just over 20 big blinds.

Peters Wins From Wang

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Action folded around to Yang Wang in the small blind and he sat up in his chair to check out big blind David Peters’ stack – roughly 39,000 – before popping it up to 3,600.

Peters peeked down at his hole cards and threw in the call and it was off to the {j-Clubs}{a-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop. Wang led for 4,300 and while Peters took his time he made the call and the {4-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

This brought a check from Wang and Peters checked it right back to bring both players to the {8-Diamonds} river. This time it was Wang’s turn to check, opening the door for Peters who walked through it and bet 9,200. Wang called instantly, but could only muck when Peters turned over {8-Spades}{6-Hearts} for rivered trip eights.

More Fireworks Between Wang and Zhang

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dianlei Zhang
Dianlei Zhang

On a table with Michael Egan, Tom Alner, Jack Salter and David Peters, it was pretty much all about Dianlei Zhang versus Yang Wang, and the former four-bet several times.

It just happened again in the last hand of the previous level and Wang would join the fun to bang heads with his fellow countryman. Zhang raised to 2,800 from under the gun and Wang three-bet to 7,000. Zhang four-bet to 17,000 and Wang called. On the {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop, Zhang bet small and was called before making it 35,000 to go on the {2-Hearts} turn, Wang called.

After the {8-Clubs} river, Zhang tanked and used one time bank chip before checking with one second left on the clock. Wang used a time bank chip himself and then bet 65,000, which urged Zhang to use another time bank chip. The 30 seconds ran down and Zhang folded with one second remaining.

Queens For Lin

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

We were lurking by Nick Petrangelo’s table hoping to catch the US High Roller specialist in action as he has an impressive stack of 272,000. While Petrangelo failed to oblige us with any action we caught a hand involving HK$206,000 Single Re-Entry Shot Clock Champion Quan Zhou (who is also at the same table) and Xia Lin.

Pre-flop it was Zhou who opened the action with a raise to 3,700 from middle position and action folded around to Petrangelo on the button.

“How much are you playing there?” Petrangelo quizzed Zhou, “You want to gamble?”

Then Petrangelo peeked down at his cards and shook his head sadly.

“No gamble I’m afraid,” said the US pro, throwing his hand away.

However, small blind Xia Lin seemed game and re-raised to 8,500 and Zhou made the call to take play heads-up to the {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop.

Lin led for 10,000, Zhou quickly folded and Lin flashed pocket queens before raking in the pot.

Lai Calls Down Troyanovskiy

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Oliver Price raised to 3,300 and Ben Lai called from one seat over, as did Vladimir Troyanovskiy and Sosia Jiang in the big blind.

The flop of {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} was checked to Troyanovskiy and the Russian bet 6,500. Only Lai called and the {9-Clubs} on the turn saw another check by Troyanovskiy and a bet worth 12,500 by Troyanovskiy, which Lai called.

Lai then checked the {Q-Spades} river and Lai checked, Troyanovskiy quickly checked behind. Lai rolled over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and that won the pot.

Short Stacks Combined

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Dong Kim shoved the button for less than 20,000 with the {J-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier in the small blind reshoved for slightly more with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Kim spiked the {10-Diamonds} on the river, but it was also the fourth diamond on the board to give Grospellier a flush and eliminate Kim in the last level of the night.
