Yu and Li Double, Petrangelo Takes One From Bansal

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

There have been two near simultaneous double-ups on the two remaining tournament tables within seconds of each other.

For the first it was Ryan Yu and Yang Wang battling it out with Yu the man to pull the trigger first after becoming embroiled in a raising war with Wang. Yu moved all-in pre-flop for 175,000 in total and Wang made a speedy call.

Ryan Yu: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Yang Wang: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

Despite holding a dominated hand Yu spiked his jack on the {8-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop with the {9-Clubs} turn and the {2-Clubs} river completing the hand to grant the Canadian player the double to 363,000 while Yang dropped down to 240,000.

Over on the other table we arrived in time to see Shou Li check-raise all-in over the top of a Xiaoyang Luo 50,000 turn bet on a board reading {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} {j-Hearts}.

Luo asked for a count – Li had 270,000 – and did not take too long to make the call and the cards were turned over.

Shou Li: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Xiaoyang Luo: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Li must have felt good about the hand when he discovered he already had the hand locked up with a set of tens and he climbed to 675,000 while Luo dropped to 270,000.

Shortly after this Raghav Bansal and Nick Petrangelo played a sizable pot with Bansal the initial aggressor, opening the action with a middle position raise to 24,000.

Petrangelo made the call from the small blind and checked the {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop over to Bansal, who thought it over for 15-seconds or so before continuation betting for 23,000.

The US player then check-raised to 73,000 in total to send Bansal into the tank for 20 seconds before the Indian player decided to make the call and the {5-Diamonds} hit the turn.

Both players checked and the {k-Clubs} river completed the hand before Petrangleo led for 167,000.

Bansal thought it over but eventually let it go.

“Show the bluff,” Bansal told Petrangelo, who obligingly flashed him the {a-Diamonds} before raking in the pot to climb to 650,000 while Bansal dropped a little to 1.1 million.

Bansal Wins One Off Petrangelo

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Picking up the action on the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop, Nick Petrangelo checked from early position and Raghav Bansal bet 28,000 on the button. The {A-Clubs} on the turn went check, check, and Petrangelo also checked the {2-Hearts} river. Bansal now made it 51,000 to go and the clock ticked down to almost zero before Petrangelo tossed in a chip for the call.

Bansal turned over {A-Spades}{3-Spades} for top pair and that won the pot.

Soon after, Yu moved all in again and it was Yang Wang who asked for a count. The shove of the Canadian was for 121,000 and Wang folded, as did all other remaining players that were still to act.

Zhong Wang Eliminated in 17th to Set Up Redraw

Zhong Wang
Zhong Wang

Flush from his recent double-up Xiaoyang Luo opened the action from late position and Zhong Wang moved all-in over the top for his last 200,000.

Luo thought it over and ran the shot clock down to 10-second before deciding the chance to eliminate a player was too good to pass up on and made the call.

Xhong Wang: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Xiaoyang Luo: {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The flop was a very sweaty {j-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and despite holding the best hand in poker Wang could not hold on to his lead. The {10-Clubs} turn gave Luo more outs to go with his open-ended straight draw and caught one of them when the {q-Hearts} hit the river to give him two pairs to send Wang crashing out of the tournament.

Play paused here as the 16 remaining players are now redrawing for new seats.

Luo Doubles Through Li

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

We caught the action on the turn in a heads-up pot between Shuo Li and Xiaoyang Luo with the board reading {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} {6-Spades} and over 70,000 in blinds and antes already in the middle of the table.

Luo was in the big blind and had checked the action over to Li on the button who led out for a bet of 20,000. Luo check-raised to 50,000 and Li quickly called to bring play to the {9-Diamonds} river.

First to act, Luo moved his remaining 114,000 into the middle and Li called extremely quickly. Luo turned over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} and a disappointed Li rocked back in his chair, flashing Luo {a-Spades}{7-Spades} before throwing his hand into the muck.

Quenneville and and Addamo Tangle Again

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Nick Petrangelo raised to 20,000 on the button and Michael Addamo three-bet to 80,000 in the small blind. Troy Quenneville flat-called from the big blind and Petrangelo got out of the way.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and Addamo continued with a bet worth 60,000, which Quenneville called. After the {a-Spades} turn, Addamo made it 180,000 to go and Quenneville called once more before the {3-Hearts} on the river triggered a check by the Aussie. Other players walked over to see the action and Quenneville moved all in, Addamo quickly folded and conceded the second pot in a row to Quenneville.
