A big Double and More for Shuts

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Hand 1

Felipe Ramos raised to 20,000 and Maksim Shuts three-bet the pot from two seats over. Ramos gave it some thought and moved all in, Shuts snap-called all in and tabled aces while Ramos had kings and tens.

Maksim Shuts: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Felipe Ramos: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board came {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{8-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Shuts doubled for 147,000.

Hand 2

Right the next hand, Shuts raised to 25,000 and the table laughed. Fabian Geisel called in the big blind and the {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop checked through. On the {6-Spades} turn, Geisel bet 40,000 and Shuts called before the German checked the {A-Clubs} river. Shuts made it 60,000 to go and was paid off by Geisel to reveal {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{3-Hearts} for top two as winning hand.

Back-to-Back Doubles for Geeng

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Hand 1

Fabian Geisel raised to 25,000 and Daniel Geeng three-bet to 80,000 out of the big blind. Geisel reraised the pot and Geeng called all in for 102,000.

Daniel Geeng: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Fabian Geisel: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

The board came {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and the kings held up for Geeng.

Hand 2

Only two hands later, Sam Greenwood made it 20,000 to go and Geeng three-bet to 75,000 on the button, which Greenwood called. After a flop of {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Spades}, Greenwood bet the pot and Geeng called all in for 128,000.

Daniel Geeng: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Sam Greenwood: {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

Neither the {6-Hearts} turn nor the {2-Clubs} river changed anything. "You are supposed to have aces there," Greenwood joked. "Oh yeah, terrible flop for aces," Geeng replied when it was all done and dusted.

The Double Up Madness Continues

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Hok Lee raised to 30,000 and Felipe Ramos called on the button, Maksim Shuts came along out of the big blind. The {K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop was checked to Lee and his bet of 30,000 won the pot.

Then, Ramos raised to 35,000 with 21,000 behind and Ka Kwan Lau called in the big blind. Lau shoved the {8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop and Ramos called all in.

Felipe Ramos: {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Ka Kwan Lau: {J-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

Neither the {K-Diamonds} turn nor the {A-Hearts} river sent Lau into the lead and Ramos doubled.

It was up to the other short stack, Joseph Kushner, to double next. His raise was called by Lau and Greenwood and the remaining 30,000 went in after the {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop after Lau had bet to force out Greenwood.

Joseph Kushner: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}
Ka Kwan Lau: {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The rail of Kushner was asking for a low card or to pair the board, and the {4-Clubs} turn and {Q-Diamonds} river did exactly that! Kushner doubled and now Lau was short again.

Kushner Doubles Lau and Busts Soon After

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Joseph Kushner
Joseph Kushner

Within two hands, the stack of Joseph Kushner was eventually reduced to zero after the player at risk on this action-paced final table had previously escaped from elimination more than a dozen times thus far.

Hand 1

Kushner raised to 35,000 and Ka Kwan Lau three-bet shoved for his last 97,000. Kushner eventually called and the cards were turned over.

Ka Kwan Lau: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Joseph Kushner: {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The board came {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Kushner was reduced to a few big blinds only.

Hand 2

Kushner then got those few chips in preflop and Lau reraised the pot to get everyone else out of the way.

Joseph Kushner: {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}
Ka Kwan Lau: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}

After a board of {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Kushner's two pair on the flop were counterfit on the turn and his flush draw also bricked to send the American to the rail two spots off the money.

Geisel Chips Up Through Geeng

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Daniel Geeng raised to 25,000 on the button and Fabian Geisel defended the big blind. On a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Hearts}, both players checked. Geisel bet the pot for 55,000 on the {6-Hearts} turn and left himself 28,000 behind, and Geeng called.

The {A-Spades} river was checked and Geisel showed {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for jacks and fours to win a vital pot.

Shuts Takes Down Big Pot Without Showdown

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Hand 1

Fabian Geisel raised and found a single caller in Sam Greenwood out of the blinds. Both checked the {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Greenwood then check-called the {2-Clubs} turn. After the {J-Clubs} river, Greenwood checked and Geisel bet 45,000. Greenwood check-raised the pot and Geisel folded with less than 10 big blinds behind.

Hand 2

The last hand of the level then turned into an endurance challenge. Maksim Shuts had raised to 20,000 and Greenwood as well as Daniel Geeng called out of the blinds. The flop of {J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} saw checks all around and the {4-Diamonds} turn was checked to Shuts, who bet 50,000. Both Greenwood and Geeng called to then see the {10-Diamonds} appear on the river.

Greenwood and Geeng checked, and Shuts made it 140,000 to go with around 150,000 behind. Greenwood quickly folded, but Geeng spent around seven minutes in the think tank before eventually folding.

"Would you have called if I shove?" he asked and Shuts simply replied "I worried a lot, because you took so much time."
