Li and Quan Meet Again

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

Shuo Li was on the final table of the HK$206,000 Single-Day High Roller last night and finished 7th for HK$620,000. He was sharing the same table as eventual champion Quan Zhou for quite some time throughout the late stages of the tournament and the Chinese just signed up for the Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller event.

And wouldn't you know, Li sat down directly next to Zhou as well.

Big Setback for Weis

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

On the river of a board {J-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, Kazuhiko Yotsushika bet 7,000 for the size of the pot and Oliver Weis reraised the pot, giving his opponent from Japan the option to call all in or fold with less than half the starting stack behind. Yotsushika called and showed [AsQdJc6h for jacks and sixes, then sighed with a big relief when Weis only showed {Q-}{J-}{2-}{X-} for the worse hand and a busted flush draw.

That hand cut Weis' stack into half while Yotsushika moved back above starting stack after a mediocre start into Day 1.

Make That 12 as Kushner and Lee Join

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Within just a few minutes apart from each other, both Joseph Kushner and Hok Lee entered the field and that made for 12 entries, six on each of the two tables.

Collado vs Weis

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

On the three-way flop of {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Oliver Weis in the small blind and Kazuhiko Yotsushika checked and Jan Collado on the button bet 1,600 into a pot of 2,100. Only Weis called and the duo from Germany then checked the {2-Clubs} turn and the {7-Hearts} river. Weis announced two pair and showed {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} for aces and nines to claim the pot.

Zhou and Zhao Tangle

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

There were 1,500 in the middle with the flop reading {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Quan Zhou checked in the big blind, while Wei Zhao bet 1,000. A third player in the hand folded and Zhou called. Both then quickly checked the {J-Hearts} turn, before the {5-Hearts} river brought a fourth heart and paired the board.

Zhou bet 1,500 and Zhao raised to 7,000 in order to force a quick fold from Zhou. Both players have started well into Day 1 and already built their stacks well above the initial 50,000, but as usual the swings of Omaha can change that in the matter of just a few hands.

Tsang Enters the Mix

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Yan Shing "Anson" Tsang has one massive score from here in Macau when he finished 7th in the GuangDong Asia Millions for HK$7,150,000, which back then was worth approximately $921,000. His other cashes combined are less than $25,000 and Tsang just entered the competition and drew a seat on table two.

Since there were already five players there, the next hand was finished and the tables were then balanced to make it five on each, and ten entries in total. Keep in mind that the registration is open for another seven levels and some, so the field may very well increase still.

Decent Start for Weis

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The first major pot of the day went to Oliver Weis, who took plenty of chips from Jiwei Deng. Until the river of a board {K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, more than 20,000 were already in the middle, just the odd 100 big blinds. Weis made it 12,500 to go and Deng eventually called to then muck when Weis flashed {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the jack-high flush.

Who's in so Far?

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The tournament kicked off with a delay of around 1h15, as only three players had been roaming around the tournament area for some time. Then, a few further participants showed up with tickets in their hands and that number became nine, at which point a second table opened.

Among the notables in the mix are Ka Kwan Lau, Jan Collado, Oliver Weis and Quan Zhou. The latter won the HK$ 206,000 Single-Day High Roller last night and is back for more High Roller glory.

The first level passed without any major action, and level two kicked off with identical blinds of 100-200.
