Jeff Cormier Cracks Kings

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Sergio Di Pego raised to 1,300 from early position and Jeff Cormier three-bet to 3,200 from the hijack. Di Pego called.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Di Pego checked. Cormier bet 3,600 and Di Pego quickly called.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, prompting Di Pego to check again. Cormier was moving full speed ahead and bet again. This time, he made it 6,200 to go.

The river was the {a-Hearts}. Di Pego checked for a third time, and Cormier decided to slow down and check back.

Di Pego tabled {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} for two pair, kings and threes. Cormier showed {a-Clubs}{8-Spades} for aces up and scooped the pot. Di Pego just shook his head and sent his cards into the muck.

David Lopez Llacer Eliminated

David Lopez Llacer was already extremely short and a bad beat finished it all off. He shoved for his last 4,475 and got looked up by small blind Felix Bleiker. Llacer turned over {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} while Bleiker had to do with {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}. The board, however, would run out {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Llacer hit the rail.

Newey Doubles Through Fernandez

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Paul Newey got his chips in good, turning over {A-Spades}{K-Spades} from the big blind against the {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} of button Leo Fernandez. The board ran out {2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Newey received his 20,000 or so stack back times two.

Damian Salas Eliminated

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

Damian Salas was seen getting up from his seat after he got his short stack of about 5,500 in the middle against Mike McDonald on the river.

The board was ten-high, and when Salas checked to McDonald, he moved a tall stack of T5,000 chips in the middle, putting him to the test for his tournament life. Salas snap-called, but when McDonald tabled {10-}{6-} for a pair of tens with a six kicker, he mucked his cards and left the tournament area.

Peters Gets Paid

Action folded around to David Peters on the button and he raised to 1,300. Roman Korenev was in the small blind and three-bet to 5,000. Benoit Lam was in the big blind and thought for about a minute before opting to fold. Peters called.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} and Korenev led out for 3,500. Peters called.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}. Both players checked to the river, which was the {2-Clubs}. Korenev checked again, and this time Peters bet 12,500. Korenev didn't think for very long before tossing a single chip in the middle, indicating a call.

Peters tabled {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for two pair, tens and deuces and Korenev mucked his cards.

Chen Starts Out Strong

Level 5 : 250/500, 75 ante

From the button, Isaac Haxton raised to 1,300. Andrew Chen, who just sat down, called from the big blind.

Chen check-called a bet of 1,200 on {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and 3,000 on the {7-Hearts} turn. Chen checked a third time on the {10-Clubs} river and Haxton followed up his aggression with a bet of 8,000. Chen thought about it for just a bit before he check-raised to 27,000. Haxton instantly folded.

Wheel for Reixach

With about 4,500 in the pot, on a board reading {7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, the big blind checked and Sam Greenwood bet 3,000 from middle position.

Sergi Reixach was on the button and called, and the big blind folded.

The river was the {a-Diamonds}. Greenwood thought for about a minute and then checked. Reixach reached into his stack and fired out a bet of 8,500. Greenwood tossed out a single chip, indicating a call. Reixach announced, "Four-four" and tabled {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} for a straight. Greenwood mucked his hand.

Quenneville Adds Some More

From early position, Stephen Chidwick opened for 1,100. Big blind Troy Quenneville called and check-called 1,000 on {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades} as well. They both checked the {Q-Hearts} on the turn and Quenneville bet 1,275 on the {10-Clubs} river that completed the board. Chidwick called, but mucked upon being shown {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.
