Akash Mazumdar is the Only North American Standing

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Eugenio Celume was in middle position and decided to limp in. Akash Mazumdar was in the hijack and raised to 6,800. Celume called.

The flop came {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, and both players checked to the turn, which was the {7-Hearts}. Celume checked again, and Mazumdar bet 7,200. Celume thought for a moment and eventually called.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Celume checked for a third time. Mazumdar reached into his stack and bet 11,200. Celume folded.

Celume smiled, and Mazumdar smiled back and said, "Bueno fold."

Mazumdar is just one of two North American players to have entered the field in this Main Event. He is the only one left standing, in a field full of South Americans, and less than a handful of players from Europe. Mazumdar also came in to the day with a very short stack and has spun it up as the money bubble looms.
