The Winner of the PokerStars Festival Hamburg Main Event Will be Determined Tonight

Marcin Horecki
Marcin Horecki

A winner will be crowned today as the final day of the PokerStars Festival Hamburg Main Event is commencing again at 1 p.m local time. The winner will take home the trophy but also very important, an amazing amount of €105,850. A pretty wonderful return for their €1,100 buy-in.

Ulrich Pauls will start the day with a convincing chip lead but nothing is said and done yet as there are 14 other players that have their eyes set on the tournament win. Pauls won his chips by eliminating quite a few players yesterday and bluffing his way through some big hands. Karolis Domarkas, the friendly Lithuanian, won’t be that nice to just let Pauls continue the run he had yesterday. Even though Domarkas starts at the other table, he will try his best to stop Pauls if they get to the same table.

PokerStars Team Pro Marcin Horecki will be looking to take this win for the PokerStars team. He had a wonderful day yesterday by going from 26,000 chips to finishing with 1,825,000 in his bag. Those are 76 big blinds, so he has enough room to play around with those. Igor Rybak on the other hand has some less space to make big moves as he took 7 big blinds with him from yesterday.

All in all, today will be an action filled day as they play down to a winner. The PokerNews live reporting will be here to bring you all the updates until a new PokerStars Festival Hamburg Main Event Champion has been determined.

Igor Rybak Eliminated in 15th Place (€5,660)

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Igor Rybak
Igor Rybak

Igor Rybak shoved all in from early position. Behzad Zarnegar was sitting in the cutoff and asked for a count, the dealer complied and counted Rybak's stack. He confirmed it was 202,000 in total. Zarnegar called.

PokerStars Team Pro Marcin Horecki (big blind) looked at his cards and then at his own stack. He decided to shove too. Zarnegar looked at his own cards again with a bit of regret on his face and then quickly flashed his cards to the table as he folded his hand. An ace could be spotted while he did that.

Marcin Horecki: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Igor Rybak: {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds} - Horecki paired his ace up on the river to deal the final blow of Rybak and send him to the rail. Rybak finished in 15th place today.

Michal Lubas: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
[Removed:431]: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}

Daniel Stacey moved all in from early position for 520,000 and Peter Jaksland called on the button for 480,000, which Ulrich Pauls called out of the small blind as well to put two players at risk.

Peter Jaksland: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Daniel Stacey: {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Ulrich Pauls: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The board came {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and neither short stack improved to see Jaksland bow out in 13th place, while Stacey took 12th place. Both take home €6,490 for their efforts and the field has suddenly been reduced to the last 11 hopefuls.

Alaettin Keles: {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

The board came {J-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and the four on the turn was followed by an eight on the river to see Kim bow out in 11th place for €7,640.

Sigel Doubles Through Domarkas

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Jan Sigel
Jan Sigel

Jan Sigel raised to 95,000 from the button and was called by Karolis Domarkas in the big blind.

They both checked through the {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Hearts} to the {2-Diamonds} on the turn. Domarkas bet 125,000 and Sigel immediately responded with a shove. Domarkas asked for a count. After the dealer had counted Sigel's stack, it was confirmed that Sigel had 660,000 behind. Domarkas tanked, looked at the board and Sigel's stack several times, and then ended up calling.

Sigel tabled {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a straight, flush and straight flush draw and Domarkas had {K-Hearts}{6-Spades} for top pair. Sigel punched the table with happiness when the dealer completed the board with the {6-Hearts} for a flush and the double up.

Karolis Domarkas shoved all in from the hijack and so did Alaettin Keles from the cutoff with the smaller stack of 275,000. Everyone else folded so they were heads-up.

Alaettin Keles: {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The board ran out {3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} - no help for Keles as Domarkas had the higher kicker and Keles was eliminated in 10th place.

Rudolf Köster
Rudolf Köster

Down to his last 165,000 chips, Day 1a chip leader Rudolf Köster moved all in first to act and Michal Lubas raised to 300,000. Ulrich Pauls gave it brief consideration and folded, as did all other players on the table.

Rudolf Köster: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Michal Lubas: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

"I would have called you, I had queen-jack," Pauls said before the flop fell {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Köster was in need of running cards to a straight or flush in order to remain in contention, but it was all over with the {8-Clubs} turn to make the {6-Diamonds} river a formality. Köster takes home €9,290 for his efforts and the official eight-handed final table has now been reached.
