Sapiano Approaching Triple Starting Stack

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

When everyone bagged and tagged for Day 1c, the average was just over three times the starting stack. Albert Sapiano managed to spin it up to almost that with less than an hour.

In one of the latest pots he played, the board showed {10-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Sapiano checked in the small blind. His sole remaining opponent made it 6,700 to go and Sapiano eventually called to claim the pot with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

Two Areas in Play

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

The main tournament area initially started ten-handed, but the first tables are seeing players being moved over to the bar area. At least 18 tables are now in play and more are available in case they are needed.

The first and only break of this turbo heat will be after the end of level six in just under an hour, and when cards get back in the air after that the registration will officially close.

O'Brien On the Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Alexandra O'Brien
Alexandra O'Brien

After her episode with William Kassouf at the end of Day 1c, Alexandra O'Brien is recovering with some more poker and jumped into the turbo heat. At the end of the previous level she called a raise to 700 and behind her another player called, the small blind then made it 2,200.

All called and it headed four ways to the {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop that got checked around. On the {8-Spades} turn, the initial raiser bet 3,500 and O'Brien called, as did the small blind. The {A-Diamonds} river was checked to O'Brien and she bet 7,000. The small blind called and the initial raiser folded. O'Brien turned over {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for aces and eights, her opponent had {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for aces and fives.

Tafur Busts Guerrero

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Short stack Jimmy Guerrero was already all in when two players were still acting and checked down the board of {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}. Daniel Tafur turned over {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and his table neighbor had the {A-Clubs}{J-Spades} while Guerrero with the {A-Spades}{5-Diamonds} was sent to the rail. Tafur is one of a dozen players who already more than doubled up their stack.

Wang With a Bang on the River

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

At least one dozen players have been eliminated already and that number is sure to climb rather quickly while a few of the hopefuls managed to spin up the stack with sheer aggression. One of them is Hong Wang, who just got into a bigger pot with table neighbor Kayhan Mokri Roshanfekr.

On the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{K-Spades} flop, Wang checked in the cutoff and called a bet of 4,000 by Roshanfekr on the button before doing so again on the {K-Diamonds} turn for 11,500. After the {J-Hearts} river, Wang shrugged and then said "all in." Now it was up to Roshanfekr to shrug, and he took half a minute before sending his cards into the muck.
