Matloubi Doubles Through Chen

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Mansour Matloubi raised to 7,000 from under the gun and Pete Chen three-bet to 18,000 from two seats over. The action folded back to Matloubi and he moved all in for 69,000, which Chen quickly called.

Mansour Matloubi: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Pete Chen: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

On the {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, Chen asked for diamonds, but he was drawing dead to win the pot as soon as the {3-Clubs} turn hit the felt. This made the {10-Clubs} river a sheer formality and Chen had to forfeit half of his stack.

Obara Takes Some Off Cheung; Muthu Folds to Shove

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

The {10-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} turn saw Sparrow Cheung check his option in the big blind and Jun Obara did so from the button before Cheung also checked the {10-Diamonds} river. Obara bet 35,000 into a pot of 40,000 and Cheung folded.

Soon after, Pete Chen made it 7,000 to go and Shatesh Muthu three-bet to 21,000 on the button. Chen moved all in for another 41,900 on top of that and Muthu folded.

Asmolov Rising

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Sathesh Muthu and Yo Seb Rhee clashed in a smaller pot that saw the former raise and the latter defend his small blind, then check-call a bet of 12,500 on the {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop. Both checked down the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {5-Hearts} river and Rhee showed {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}, which Muthu had beat with {K-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Over on table two, Timofey Asmolov has been doing some work and built his stack further while Linh Tran slipped down by as much. Tran opened to 7,500 in the hijack and Asmolov called in the cutoff. On the {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop, Tran's continuation bet worth 10,000 was called before the {2-Hearts} turn went check, check. Tran also checked the {5-Hearts} on the river and folded when Asmolov made it 18,000 to go.

Lee is "A Scary Guy"

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Hand 1

Celine Lee raised to 7,200 from early position and Shengyu Li called in the big blind. The flop fell {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs} and Li checked, Lee bet 10,000 and that won the pot right there.

Hand 2

Timofey Asmolov made it 10,500 to go from the button and picked up calls by Li and Hermann Lee in the big blind. The flop came {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and all three players checked. Same repeated on the {4-Diamonds} turn before the {4-Spades} river paired the board. The action checked to Asmolov and his bet of 7,200 won the pot without showdown.

Hand 3

Peter Plater raised to 6,500 and both Lee's called in the blinds. On the {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop, Hermann Lee was the only one to check-call a continuation bet worth 12,500 by Plater before check-calling another 12,000 on the {9-Spades} turn. The duo checked the {J-Diamonds} river and Plater eventually sighed while checking behind. Lee showed {K-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Plater won the pot with {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, telling his opponent "you are a scary guy."

Chen's Kings No Good

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Pete Chen
Pete Chen

Sathesh Kumar Muthu defended his small blind against a raise by Pete Chen and Sparrow Cheung did so from the big blind. On the {J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop, Muthu check-raised and quickly called the shove of Chen with {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

Chen had pocket kings with the {K-Hearts} for the better flush draw, however both the {7-Diamonds} turn and the {8-Spades} river were blanks to send Chen to the rail and bump Muthu's stack to more than half a million.

Asmolov Rivers Lee

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

There weren't as many chips in the pot with a continuation bet of 12,000 and a call on the {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and two checks on the {10-Diamonds} turn. Celine Lee bet the {6-Clubs} river for 22,000 and Timofey Asmolov raised to 45,000. Lee called after brief consideration and Asmolov rolled over {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a full house, then quickly said "sorry."

Burns Triples Up

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Simon Burns was all in and at risk preflop and picked up no fewer than two callers in Peter Plater and Timofey Asmolov. The two remaining players checked down the board of {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Plater won the tiny side pot of 7,000 with {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} against Asmolov's {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. However, Burns scored a vital triple up with {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush to remain in contention.

Cheung Busts Against His Nemesis

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sparrow Cheung
Sparrow Cheung

Jun Obara had bluffed Sparrow Cheung out of a pot earlier on and it was just fitting that Cheung would lose his remaining chips to Obara.

Cheung moved all in for what appeared to be 30,000 from under the gun and Obara just called in the small blind, which forced a fold from Sathesh Kumar Muthu in the big blind.

Sparrow Cheung: {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Jun Obara: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

The board came {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Cheung failed to get there, he will likely join the Main Event right away to chase elusive points for the APOY leader board.
