Lauck Back on Track

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Towards the end of the previous level, Jonas Lauck took down a couple pots and built his stack again nicely to get back into serious contention while Vladimir Troyanovskiy dropped some chips.

After raising to 27,000 preflop from the button, Lauck picked up a call by Tomas Soderstrom in the big blind. The {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop went check, check, and Soderstrom check-called a bet worth 27,000 on the {Q-Clubs} turn. The Swede then checked the {6-Spades} turn and Lauck took down the pot without showdown by betting 62,000.

Just as the level went up, Troyanovskiy raised to 32,000 and folded to Lauck's three-bet worth 88,000 from one seat over.

Two Three-Bets by Troyanovskiy

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Eugene Katchalov and Tomas Soderstrom chopped a small pot with the bottom end of a four-card straight on the board before Soderstrom soon after opened to 32,000. Vladimir Troyanovskiy three-bet to 87,000 on the button and the Swede quickly got out of the way.

Then, Katchalov made it 35,000 to go and Troyanovskiy three-bet to 102,000 in the small blind. That was enough to break through any further resistance and again the pot was shipped to Troyanovskiy.

Katchalov Takes it on the River

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Eugene Katchalov raised to 35,000 on the button and Vladimir Troyanovskiy defended the big blond. On a flop of {K-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Troyanovskiy checked and Katchalov continued for 27,000, which the Russian called.

The {Q-Spades} on the turn went check, check, and Troyanovskiy also checked the {K-Diamonds} river. Katchalov now made it 65,000 to go with around 420,000 behind, and Troyanovskiy studied his opponent and the board for a good minute before letting go.

Only Troyanovskiy and Katchalov Play

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The last couple of hands saw no involvement by Jonas Lauck and Tomas Soderstrom, while Eugene Katchalov and Vladimir Troyanovskiy traded pots back and forth.

There was even one showdown, but the excitement soon faded. Troyanovskiy had raised to 35,000 on the button and Katchalov called in the big blind. On the {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, both checked. Same then applied for the {6-Spades} turn and {5-Spades} river.

Katchalov showed the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Troyanovskiy had the {K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. "It's prettier," Katchalov joked to his opponent while the Russian grabbed the seven and grinned "but it's a black card." Both players laughed, while the action has slowed down a lot as of lately.

Break it up

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The remaining four players headed into their next 15-minute break, and Tomas Soderstrom scooped the last hand of the level to somewhat close the gap to Jonas Lauck at the bottom of the counts.

Three-Bet Shove by Soderstrom

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

The new level started with two raises to 45,000 by Eugene Katchalov. In the first hand, he faced opposition in Tomas Soderstrom, who moved all in from one seat over and forced a fold.

Then, Jonas Lauck defended the big blind and checked the {K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} flop. Katchalov checked back and the {2-Clubs} appeared on the turn. Lauck checked, Katchalov bet 42,000 and that took down the pot.

Jonas Lauck Eliminated in 4th Place (€20,640)

Level 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Jonas Lauck
Jonas Lauck

Vladimir Troyanovskiy flashed the {A-Clubs} after min-betting a flop of {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Hearts} after Eugene Katchalov had folded.

One hand later, Jonas Lauck shoved from the button and also showed the {A-Clubs} after his opponents had folded.

Fast forward one hand, Lauck shoved first to act and Eugene Katchalov asked for a count on the button. Lauck was all in for 272,000 and Katchalov reshoved to isolate successfully.

Jonas Lauck: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Eugene Katchalov: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

"I folded a five," Troyanovskiy said and Katchalov smiled back with the words "don't spoil it."

The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} and Lauck failed to improve, joining the rail in 4th place for a payday of €20,640.
