Colonese Fires the River

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

With a substantial pot of about 5,000 chips already brewing and the completed board reading {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, the player in the big blind checked to his lone opponent, Fabio Colonese in the cutoff. Colonese bet 3,100, sending his opponent into the tank. After over a minute, the big blind ultimately folded, and Colonese took the pot.

The Sao Paolo native has over $260,000 in live tournament winnings to his name and several deep runs in events around the region, including a 9th-place finish in an LAPT Main Event where he banked a payday of $18,615 and a 5th-place finish in the World Series of Poker International Circuit Main Event where he earned $34,958.

Astorga Gets Aggressive

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

A player in early position raised to 425, the hijack called, and both the button and small blind called, as well. Rodrigo Astorga then three-bet to 2,300, the original raiser folded, the hijack and button both called, and the small blind folded.

The three players saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Astorga bet 5,100. Both of his opponents folded in fairly short order and Astorga took the chips.

Big Blunder Leads To Big Pot for Georges Hajjar

Matias Scaffo opened with a raise to 300 from middle position. He was called by Georges Hajjar from the cutoff, Brett Trevillian on the button, and one more player from the small blind.

On the {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop, action checked to Hajjar who put out a bet of 700. Trevillian called, as did the small blind and Scaffo.

The turn was the {6-Spades}. Action checked to Hajjar again who put out a second bet, this time for 2,650. Trevillian called. The small blind folded, but Scaffo called.

On the {Q-Diamonds} river, Scaffo led out, putting in a small bet of 350. Hajjar raised, making it 3,050 and Trevillian folded. Thinking the hand was over, Hajjar went to turn over his cards. Apparently, Hajjar thought he was just calling Scaffo's bet, but he was wrong. Trevillian asked for a floor to be called over to rectify the situation and it was eventually decided that Hajjar would have to keep his bet of 3,050 in the pot. Scaffo eventually decided to call, but Hajjar showed him {6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for trips and that earned a muck from Scaffo.

Despite his mistep, Hajjar took in the big pot and jumped up the counts early here on Day 1. Recent, Hajjar made the final table of the PokerStars Cup here in Uruguay, earning himself $5,000 after making a deal at the final table, and it looks as if his luck is already carrying over into today as well.

Jesse Rosen was in middle position and heads-up against a player in the cutoff with 3,025 chips already in the middle and the board reading {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Rosen bet 1,200 and his opponent called.

The {9-Clubs} fell on the river and both players checked. Rosen quickly tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for turned top pair, top kicker, the cutoff mucked, and Rosen took the chips.

Aro's Check-Raise Works

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

With about 1,800 chips already in the middle and the board reading {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Clubs} action checked around to the player in the cutoff and he bet 1,025. The player in the small blind called and Diego Aro then check-raised from the big blind to 3,225. The cutoff folded fairly quickly, and after brief consideration, the small blind did the same and Aro took the pot.

Infante Recovers a Bit

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Andres Infante opened with a raise to 650. Action folded to Rodrigo Astorga who was in late position and he three-bet, making it 2,000 to go. Action folded back to Infante who called.

The flop came down {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Infante checked to Astorga, who continued with a bet of 2,200. Infante called.

Both players then checked down on the {K-Diamonds} turn and the {8-Spades} river. Astorga showed {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for a pair of jacks, but it was no good as Infante had outflopped him with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of aces. With that Infante scooped the pot and recovered some of his lost chips.
