Demasi Finds Big River Call

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Simone Demasi
Simone Demasi

Simone Demasi opened to 60,000 from middle position, and was met with a three-bet to 135,000 from Flavius Vlasiu in the cutoff. Action folded back to Demasi, who called.

On the J♠10♦5♥ flop, Demasi check-called in the face of a bet of 50,000 from Vlasiu.

The 9♥ turn was checked through to the A♠ river, where Demasi checked once more. Vlasiu fired out a bet of 225,000, leaving himself only 5,000 behind.

Demasi took some time for thought, but ultimately flicked in a calling chip. Vlasiu tabled A♥2♥ for a pair of aces, but Demasi was good with 10♣9♣ for two pair.

Vlasiu was left with crumbs, and busted a couple of hands later.

Cherif Gets Excited After Rockets Hold

Level 24 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Fehmi Cherif
Fehmi Cherif

All of a sudden a shout of celebration went up from Table 4, and Fehmi Cherif was up out his chair shouting "Yes!".

The reason became clear after his A♠A♦ had secured a full double-up versus Luca Martin's Q♣Q♦ on the 10♣6♣3♥3♠2♦ runout.

Cherif continued to celebrate exuberantly, prompting the tournament director to ask him to calm down.

"No my friend, people play poker like robots, not me, I'm here to enjoy my time. I'm just a fish in the middle of the sharks, poker needs more players like me.", his monologue causing much mirth at the table.

Eventually Cherif was persuaded to retake his seat, as he went about stacking his chips.

Check-Raise Works for Agoudjil

Level 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Around 300,000 was in the middle, on a board of 8♥4♥4♣3♠, in a hand between Simone Demasi in early position and Adem Agoudjil in the big blind.

Agoudjil check-raised to 300,000 in the face of a continuation bet of 120,000 from Demasi, and after a reasonable period of thought, Demasi sent his hand to the muck.

Nicolas Boton opened to 50,000 from early position, and was met with a three-bet jam to 365,000 from Mo Xu in the cutoff. Action folded back to Boton, who made the quick call.

Mo Xu: A♦8♦ All in
Nicolas Boton: A♠Q♣

Xu needed some help, and things looked bleak after the K♠3♦2♣ flop.

However the 4♦ turn gave Xu outs to the flush, and he got there with a pair of eights on the 8♣ river, much to Boton's disgust.
