Last Month's Second Pennsyl-MANIA Event Brought $376K Prize Pool to PokerStars PA

Pennsyl-MANIA
Pennsyl-MANIA

Following the massive success of the first running of Pennsyl-MANIA in May, PokerStars PA opted to fire up another one last month, this time with an increased guarantee. They bumped the number from an already-record $250,000 to $350,000, and the guarantee was surpassed once more, though it wasn't without a mild sweat.

This time, 2,026 entries — 1,274 of them being unique players — created a prize pool of $376,836, enough to nudge past the number by just about 8%.

Just like last time, the big prize money incentivized a deal between the final few players. This time, it was four players who split up the big dough at the close of the final day on Monday:

7"johnnyboat46"$7,386
8"Shovel344"$5,265
9"anteater9999"$3,753

"Slotwinna777" took the biggest chunk but it was a fairly even split all around as everyone got at least $31K from the chop. It took three shells for "Slotwinna777," but they still wound up with a handsome profit.

Latest Big Prize Pool on PokerStars PA

Pennsyl-MANIA II followed up Pennsyl-MANIA, which established a slew of state records, and PASCOOP Main Event as the three biggest prize pools created in the fledgling market.

It remains to be seen whether Pennsyl-MANIA will continue as a regularly reoccurring tournament, but there's likely to be more big tournaments ahead either way. The advent of the upcoming World Championship of Online Poker means a mirror tournament should be announced soon for PokerStars PA. Keep an eye out, and PokerNews will monitor for any updates on the blockbuster series.

"oldbri" Bounced By "Omarwill"

In Level 15 (1,500/3,000/375), "oldbri" raised all in for 6,575 from middle position and "Omarwill" isolated by three-betting to 27,600 next to act. The rest of the players folded out and the hands were turned up.

"oldbri": {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
"Omarwill": {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The {2-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Clubs} flop paired "oldbri" but unfortunately it also contained a queen to give "Omarwill" a set. The {5-Hearts} turn kept "oldbri" drawing live to a heart flush, but it didn't come in as the {7-Clubs} bricked on the river.

PokerStars PA Ambassador Jennifer "JenShahadePA" Shahade Ousted

In Level 16 (2,000/4,000/500), "Hooligan249" raised to 10,000 under the gun and PokerStars PA Ambassador Jennifer "JenShahadePA" Shahade three-bet to 24,000 from the hijack, which left her just 760 behind. "LeDadJames" proceeded to four-bet to 44,000 from the small blind and "Hooligan249" got out of the way.

Jennifer "JenShahadePA" Shahade: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
"LeDadJames": {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop didn't do the chess champ any favors, while the {5-Spades} turn left her looking for either another five or an ace on the river to stay alive.

The {9-Clubs} river wasn't what she was looking for and Shahade hit the rail.

"jessewilll" Devours "LemonCake122"

In Level 18 (3,000/6,000/750), "jessewilll" raised to 13,500 from the cutoff and was met by an all-in three-bet to 83,558 from "LemonCake122" from the small blind.

"LemonCake122": {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}
"jessewilll": {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} flop paired "LemonCake122" but it also gave "jessewilll" a set of jacks. the {k-Clubs} turn left "LemonCake122" drawing dead and they exited the tournament after the meaningless {3-Diamonds} was run out on the river.

"nolmitome" Hits the Limit

In Level 19 (3,500/7,000/875), "plo_head" opened with a raise to 16,380 from early position and "nolmitome" responded by reraising all in for 52,909 two spots over. "oldbri" then four-bet to 81,000 from the button, both blinds folded, and "plo_head" got out of the way.

"nolmitome": {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
"oldbri": {q-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

It was a big flip but not after the flop came down {k-Clubs}{a-Spades}{2-Clubs} to pair "oldbri". Neither the {4-Diamonds} turn nor {5-Hearts} river helped "nolmitome" and they were eliminated from the tournament.
