Last Month's Second Pennsyl-MANIA Event Brought $376K Prize Pool to PokerStars PA

Pennsyl-MANIA
Pennsyl-MANIA

Following the massive success of the first running of Pennsyl-MANIA in May, PokerStars PA opted to fire up another one last month, this time with an increased guarantee. They bumped the number from an already-record $250,000 to $350,000, and the guarantee was surpassed once more, though it wasn't without a mild sweat.

This time, 2,026 entries — 1,274 of them being unique players — created a prize pool of $376,836, enough to nudge past the number by just about 8%.

Just like last time, the big prize money incentivized a deal between the final few players. This time, it was four players who split up the big dough at the close of the final day on Monday:

7"johnnyboat46"$7,386
8"Shovel344"$5,265
9"anteater9999"$3,753

"Slotwinna777" took the biggest chunk but it was a fairly even split all around as everyone got at least $31K from the chop. It took three shells for "Slotwinna777," but they still wound up with a handsome profit.

Latest Big Prize Pool on PokerStars PA

Pennsyl-MANIA II followed up Pennsyl-MANIA, which established a slew of state records, and PASCOOP Main Event as the three biggest prize pools created in the fledgling market.

It remains to be seen whether Pennsyl-MANIA will continue as a regularly reoccurring tournament, but there's likely to be more big tournaments ahead either way. The advent of the upcoming World Championship of Online Poker means a mirror tournament should be announced soon for PokerStars PA. Keep an eye out, and PokerNews will monitor for any updates on the blockbuster series.

"hunterm708" Doubles with the Nuts

"hunterm708"
"hunterm708"

In Level 3 with blinds of 125/250, "NeolithicFarmer" opened to 625 under the gun and "hunterm708" made a pot-sized three-bet to 2,250 in the cutoff. Action folded back to "NeolithicFarmer" and they called to take action heads up to a fop of {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, where both players checked.

The turn was {6-Spades} and "NeolithicFarmer" bet 3,305. "hunterm708" clicked it back, raising the minimum to 6,610 and "NeolithicFarmer" came over the top with enough to put "hunterm708" all in for their last 4,878, which they quickly called off.

"hunterm708": {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
"NeolithicFarmer": {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

The two players had flopped the nuts and second nuts. "NeolithicFarmer" was drawing dead as the river came {2-Diamonds} and "hunterm708" doubled with their nut flush.

One for the Yang Gang

"AndrewYang2020"
"AndrewYang2020"

In Level 4 with blinds of 150/300, "KennytheRipper" opened the action with a raise to 900 under the gun and received calls from "JonCaron215" on the button and "AndrewYang2020" in the big blind. The flop came {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and "AndrewYang2020" checked to "KennytheRipper", who made a continuation-bet of 2,275. "JonCaron215" called to put action back onto "AndrewYang2020", who check-raised to 5,468.

Faced with a raise, "KennytheRipper" three-bet to the size of the pot, making it 21,529 and leaving just 536 behind. "JonCaron215" folded and "AndrewYang2020" called. The rest went in on the turn {4-Hearts}.

"KennytheRipper": {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}
"AndrewYang2020": {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}

"KennytheRipper" had run trips into a full house and found themselves with one shot at beating it on the river. They did not connect as {3-Diamonds} completed the runout and they were knocked out of the tournament.
