PokerStars Ambassador Alex Romero Wins SECOOP Main Event for Over €37K
While the spotlight was on WCOOP in the global PokerStars client, players in France, Spain, and Portugal had their own festival to enjoy with the Southern European Championship of Online Poker (SECOOP).
PokerStars Ambassador Alex Romero added the biggest online score of his career on Wednesday after taking down the €125 SECOOP Main Event for a combined €37,156.
Playing under his screen name “and1ero”, the Spanish pro from Andalucía outlasted a field of 1,841 entries in the €125 buy-in tournament, which played out across three days. The victory was sealed after Romero struck a heads-up deal with “k1dluckyY”, who banked €26,780 plus €4,399 in bounties for second place.
Romero collected €25,788 for first place, alongside another €11,368 in bounties, celebrating the win live on the PokerStars Twitch channel with fellow Ambassadors on the rail. The triumph not only delivered him the SECOOP trophy but also marked his third career online title, and by far the most lucrative.
