Hannes Speiser among the big stacks for Day 2
Hannes Speiser among the big stacks for Day 2

An exciting day of poker is ahead for the latest medium stakes event of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) 2020 as a field of 3,856 will see 351 survivors return to their seats at 1.05 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) for Day 2 of WCOOP-48-M: $530 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO, Sunday Slam].

Besides all bounty prizes accumulated so far, they have all locked up a portion of the cash prize pool with at least $678 guaranteed so far. However, each knockout will increase the chances of a far bigger score and the progressive bounty on their own head.

Leading the field into the penultimate tournament day is Poland's "eStfu" with 3,921,999 followed by "Netstorm" (3,899,249) and Joep "Pappe_Ruk" van den Bijgaart (3,597,692) - all of them have more than 180 big blinds at their disposal.

Other known notables with big stacks include Hannes "SuchADegen" Speiser (3,168,091), Denis "NEWFlat" Timofeev (2,774,324), Rui "Silden4filho" Bouquet (3,089,139), Job "DeadNylan" Greben (2,329,429), Hristivoje "All In PAV" Pavlovic (2,1,07,332), and Fabian "fabstinho" Quoss (1,905,805).

Filatov No More; Salter Thriving

Level 22 : 12,500/25,000, 3,250 ante
Filatov eliminated; Salter Doubles
Filatov eliminated; Salter Doubles

Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov saw his stack reduced to crumbs when {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the flopped nut flush draw on {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} failed to get there to crack the {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} of "Aduobe4". The {4-Spades} turn and {j-Diamonds} river were both blanks.

Filatov was not the next to depart on that table, however, as "icedavid" in the big blind called a shove by "Kurtkaare" in the small blind.

"icedavid": {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
"Kurtkaare": {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

The board came {j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and the eight was good enough for "Kurtkaare".

Up next on the same table, Filatov jammed his short stack and "tarantullv" raised. Jack "jackziyang" Salter reshoved for more than 1.5 million and eventually picked up a call by "tarantullv".

Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Jack "jackziyang" Salter: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
"tarantullv": {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

On a board of {4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Salter made tens full of deuces and more than doubled.

Quoss Eliminated by "Aduobe4"

Quoss eliminated by Aduobe4
Quoss eliminated by Aduobe4

Down to just over 21 and a half blinds, Fabian "fabstinho" Quoss raised to 60,000 and was called by "Aduobe4" in the big blind. On a {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, "Aduobe4" check-raised to 152,000 and was called by Quoss.

The {k-Spades} turn was checked and "Aduobe4" then bet the {q-Diamonds} river for 735,000. Quoss called for far less than that with the {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and was shown {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} for rather slow-played aces.

Two Kings Versus Aces Coolers

Stokes vs WhoAreYoux1
Stokes vs WhoAreYoux1

Right before the blinds went up, "Kakalala" of Denmark got it in preflop with the {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} only for "abendy" to look them up with the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} in the big blind. Nothing changed on the {q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades} board and that was it for "Kakalala".

And moments later, Ivan "ILS007" Stokes fell victim to the same setup in an even bigger pot for more than 4.5 million chips when he took on "WhoAreYoux1".

Ivan "ILS007" Stokes: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
"WhoAreYoux1": {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades} and once again the aces prevailed.

Timofeev From Hero to Zero

Timofeev vs sNap36484
Timofeev vs sNap36484

"DBerglin" raised to 88,800 and was called by Denis "NEWFlat" Timofeev, which then prompted a three-bet to 376,000 by "sNap36484" in the cutoff. Only Timofeev came along to see the {j-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop on which Timofeev check-raised to 1,157,824 and "sNap36484" called after they had invested 320,000.

Timofeev jammed the {4-Spades} turn for more than 2.5 million and "sNap36484" called for slightly less than that.

"sNap36484": {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Denis "NEWFlat" Timofeev: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The {5-Spades} on the river changed nothing whatsoever as Timofeev was left with crumbs.

Up next, "llewxa" lost a flip with {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} against the {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} of "DBerglin" on a {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} board and then Timofeev's bounty was chopped up between "DBerglin" and "Flush098765" who both made a pair of sixes.

Right before the blinds increased, Jerry "Perrymejsen" Odeen opened to 101,000 in the hijack and was called by "jokkee_apart" in the cutoff. The {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop saw Odeen bet 98,890 to get called and he fired a second barrel for 413,213 on the {3-Hearts} turn, which was once again called.

On the {7-Hearts} river, Odeen bet 940,540 with 2,162,163 behind and "jokkee_apart" then jammed for more than six million. After spending a long time in the think tank, Odeen called with {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and ran into the {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} of the Norwegian.

Jozonis wins big three-way all-in
Jozonis wins big three-way all-in

In a big three-way all-in, short stack "AkulaGame" had the chance to triple up when he took on Tomas "dartazzzz" Jozonis and Vitalijs "zavor" Zavorotnijs with the latter as the biggest stack.

"AkulaGame": {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Tomas "dartazzzz" Jozonis: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Vitalijs "zavor" Zavorotnijs: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} board ensured that the kicker played and "AkulaGame" was gone while Zavorotnijs was left very short.

Those last few blinds went in preflop as Jozonis was involved once more, Maksim "MAMOHT_T" Viktorovich also came along as he raised to 600,000 in the small blind. Zavorotnijs called all-in from the big blind and initial raiser Jozonis called. On a {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop, Viktorovich bet 348,400 to get called and they checked the {k-Clubs} turn.

After the {10-Spades} river, Viktorovich check-folded to a push. Zavorotnijs tabled {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for trips queens but Jozonis had gotten there with the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.
