The World Championship of Online Poker had an action-packed day on PokerStars, and one of the highlights was the 1,930 entry field that showed up to shatter the $1.5 million guarantee, creating a whopping $1,930,000 prize pool here in WCOOP-63-M: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max, Progressive KO], $1.5M GTD.

The first day came to a close after 7h 45min of play, and 118 are left in the hunt for a WCOOP title. The winner is set to receive $123,962 plus all bounties accumulated. Sitting in the best spot to do so after Day 1 is Sergi "srxakgirona" Reixach who ended the night with an outstanding 6,406,840, which is good for 183 bigs on Day 2.

The well-known high stakes regular cruised through Day 1 near the top, ending the night with a bang when he dropped Jake "Jacob Schindler" Schindler on the last hand. Schindler shoved his pocket queens into the middle for over a million and Kenny "kenny05" Smaron called for slightly less, having ace-ten. Reixach hooked up both with his jacks and connected with a third johnnie on the flop, sending both out the door on the last hand of the night to bag the lead.

Second on the totem pole is David "MissOracle" Yan who ended the night with a respectable 3,870,076 (111 bb) and is the nearest competitor to Reixach. Rounding out the top five are "ArtHouse2011" (3,828,990), "IronCa1l" (3,783,428), and Brazil's Rodrigo "Seijistar" Seiji (3,608,860).

The day began with just 250 runners and it was not long before the five-hour late registration period closed, ending with 1,930 entry slips sold to create a $1,930,000 prize pool that flew on by the $1.5 million guarantee that was set. It took under an hour for the remaining field to dwindle down to the top 239, and all were then guaranteed at least a $1,141 min-cash.

Only 118 of those managed to book a ticket into Day 2 and have all guaranteed themselves at least a $1,729 paystub, but all will have their eye on the lucrative $123,962 top prize, along with a WCOOP title.

The second day will begin tomorrow September 6, at 5:05 p.m. GMT and blinds will resume at 17,500/35,000 with a 4,500 ante. the 118 will not stop playing until only two tables are left, having 16 bag up for the final day on September 7, at 5:05 p.m. GMT. where a champion will be crowned by the end of the night.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing all of the updates throughout this event, so stay tuned as the action unfolds.

"Luckbox1326" Nails Unlikely River

Level 22 : 15,000/30,000, 3,750 ante

"OLD TIME GIN" raised to 53,750, "sporten2" called in the cutoff, Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet called on the button, "USoGotPwned" called in the small blind, and "Luckbox1326" three-bet from the big blind, making it 375,000 to go.

The action folded to "sporten2" who shoved 1,911,513 and "Luckbox1326" called.

"sporten2": {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
"Luckbox1326": {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The {k-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop did all but win the pot for "sporten2" who landed a cowboy with the nut-flush draw to boot.

A {k-Spades} turn card meant "Luckbox1326" and one last chance at romance. Lady luck showed up for the date, bringing the {j-Clubs} to give them a boat, knocking "sporten2" out of the tournament in the process.

"BushmanLib" open-shoved 330,337 and Matas "bebaimis777" Cimbolas pushed over the top for a total of 800,492. Everyone else ducked out and they turned over the cards.

"BushmanLib": {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Matas "bebaimis777" Cimbolas: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

A {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop rolled out and Cimbolas only needed two fade two more streets. The {3-Clubs}{j-Hearts} were the cards he was looking for and he scooped in the pot, eliminating "BushmanLib" from the field.

Rutherford Finds Queens to Collect

Level 20 : 12,500/25,000, 3,250 ante

"ApocheliuS" shoved 540,136 over the open raise of 52,500 and Timothy "TruthBeTold7" Rutherford shoved 596,336 from the big blind. The original raiser folded and the two all-in's tabled their hands.

"ApocheliuS": {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Timothy "TruthBeTold7" Rutherford: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The flop fell {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, giving "ApocheliuS" a straight draw to go with overs. A {4-Hearts} left queens leading and the {7-Hearts} river cemented it for Rutherford, scooping the pot as he collected a bounty at the same time.

Henrique "Galochina10" Coutinho: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}
"badplayjosh": {q-Hearts}{6-Spades}
