Thomas Tolbert Claims PPO Event #2: $370 NLH One-Day for $16,186

PokerNews is at the 2019 Potomac Poker Open (PPO) to offer live updates from three tournaments, but those are just a few of the 14 events playing out at MGM National Harbor.

Another was Event #2: $370 NLH One-Day, a tournament that attracted 212 entrants and surpassed the $50K GTD by creating a $63,600 prize pool.

The top 25 players got paid, and some of those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Seyed Bajestani (10th - $1,113), Andrew Kim (15th - $954), Patrick Lin (19th - $636), Kyle Benedict (23rd - $636), and Sepehr Mesdaghinia (25th - $319).

At the final table, it was Thomas Tolbert of Ypoikah, Michigan besting Ashburn, Virginia's Jeffrey McCaoley in heads-up play to win the title and $16,186 first-place prize.

Bensinger Times Out Opponent to Add More to Stack

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Action was picked up on the river with the board reading {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and a pot of near 60,000, Samuel Bensinger had a large stack of chips in the middle which was enough to put his opponent all in who went deep into the tank. After over a minute the clock was called on him. The floor came over to administer the countdown until it ran out and the hand was declared dead to give Bensinger the pot.

Husaini Gets Big Value with Boat

On the turn the board read {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}. Farhad Husaini was facing a bet of 7,000 from his opponent. He waited a while and played with his chips before raising to 18,000. His opponent called. The river came the {j-Clubs}.

After it was checked to him Husaini bet 28,000, leaving himself with only about 5,000 behind. After a few moments his opponent called and Husaini turned over the {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} for a flopped set and a turned boat, which was enough to with the nice pot.

Beasley Takes Small Pot

Three players checked a board down to the river as it came {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{k-Spades}. On the river Mark Beasley bet 2,000 and both of his opponents folded to give Beasley the modest pot.

Meanwhile at the same table, Yaser Al-Keliddar has chipped up nicely to 152,000.
