Day 1b of the 2020 Potomac Winter Poker Open $3,000 Main Event has come to an end with 34 out of 149 entries making it through to Day 2 at the MGM National Harbor to try and win their share of the already surpassed $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. Together with the 15 players who survived Day 1a, this means that 49 players will be returning for Day 2 to combine with the Day 1c survivors.

The day 1b chip lead honors go to Nils Tolpingrud with 579,500 followed by Canada’s Anatoly Zharnitsky (538,500), Chad Brown (510,500), Glenn Chernigoff (466,000), and Galen Hall with 380,500 in chips. MGM National Harbor Poker Room Ambassador John Auville also bagged 141,500 for Day 2.

Other notable names to keep an eye on Day 2 include 2004 WSOP Main Event Champion Greg Raymer, James Anderson, Jane Hitchcock, Andrew Brokos, and Matt Glantz. Unfortunately, not everyone was lucky enough to make it through and will have jumped into Day 1c to try again. Players like Darren Elias, Christian Harder, Phong Nguyen, Nicholas Salimbene, Yaser Al-Keliddar, Sachin Joshi, Rajasekar Govindan, Laura Moore, Adam Hendrix, and Orson Young for example.

Day 2 will take place at 3 p.m. local time on Sunday, February 16 with play continuing until 2 a.m. or until the final six players have been reached. The level duration will be increased to 45 minutes each on Day 2 until the final table of nine as the levels will then go up to 75 minutes. And on Monday, February 17, a first-ever Potomac Winter Poker Open Main Event Champion will be crowned!

PokerNews will continue with coverage of Day 1c so switch over to that day to follow along to see who else makes Day 2.
