Another busy and long day is coming up as the final two starting flights are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. local time today in the MGM Grand Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the hotel lobby of the MGM National Harbor. The first event of the inaugural Potomac Winter Poker Open features a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 and has already attracted 680 entries over the first four starting days out of six in total. Out of those 680 entries, 77 players have made it through to Day 2 on Sunday, February 9.

Michele Lawson is ahead of the pack right now as the Day 1c chip leader collected 1,116,000 in chips during her rampage through the 11 a.m. field yesterday. She is followed by Justin Vioral with the Day 1d chip lead of 892,000. Ryan Tamanini completes the top three right now with 825,000 in chips.

Players will get 25,000 in chips for their $400 buy-in and play 30-minute levels throughout the day. The late registration period will remain open until the start of Level 12 and 15-minute breaks are to take place after Levels 4, 7, and 11. A 60-minute dinner break will take place after Level 14 for day 1e while Day 1f will enjoy a normal 15-minute break then. 12% of the field will get into the money but play will continue until 8% of the field is left. Everyone who cashes on Day 1 is guaranteed to cash for $550.

Day 2 will begin at the shortest time played in any of the six starting flights and is currently standing at the 24 minutes and 50 seconds left of Level 17. Level duration will increase to 45 minutes on Day 2 until the final table has been reached. Level duration will then increase to 60 minutes with play continuing until a winner has been found.

PokerNews will be there from the start of Day 1e and focus on that flight until the end and then switch the coverage to Day 1f until the bitter end, so keep following along.
