6th Time Lucky?

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Justin Arnwine
Justin Arnwine

Justin Arnwine has had to fire a bullet in every flight up till and hasn't found enough success with them yet but seems to be doing better with his last shot.

He raised to 10,000 from under the gun and the player in the small blind shoved for around 40,000 which Arnwine snap-called.

Small Blind: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Justin Arnwine: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades} for Arnwine to turn the set to eliminate his opponent.

Nguyen Bursts the Bubble With Quads

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Solomon Woldmariam
Solomon Woldmariam

Phong Nguyen raised to 30,000 from under the gun in the second round of hand-for-hand play and action folded to Solomon Woldmariam in the big blind who decided to three-bet to 75,000. Nguyen responded with a four-bet shove which Woldmariam called for his last 170,000.

Solomon Woldmariam: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Phong Nguyen: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The flop came {j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{j-Spades} immediately to give Nguyen quad jacks and leave Woldmariam drawing dead. The latter grabbed his stuff while the dealer completed the board with the {8-Spades} on the turn and the {10-Spades} on the river.

The rest of the field is now in the money and play will continue until there are 28 players left.

It would take over 16 hours for Day 1e and 1f to come to an end on the fourth day of the 2020 Potomac Winter Poker Open. The final starting days of the $400 Opening Event took place in a fully packed MGM National Harbor Grand Ballroom. Day 1e attracted 481 entries with 57 players in the money while Day 1f took in 351 entries with 42 players cashing. Making it through to Day 2 to claim a bigger share of the already surpassed $500,000 guaranteed prize pool were 38 Day 1e players and 21 players survived Day 1f.

In total, 1,812 entries have been collected with 143 players returning on Sunday, February 9. Currently second in the chip lead and wearing the Day 1f chip leader badge loud and proud is Justin Arnwine with 1,012,000 in chips, trailing Michele Lawson in the overall chip counts. Mukharji Uppalapati might have bubbled earlier this week, he compensated for this fact by taking the Day 1e chip lead.

Bracelet winner James Anderson finished third in the Day 1e chip counts with 658,000 but is following Joseph Frampus who laid claim to 695,000 in chips. Other players making it through the long day today include Michael Lerner, another bracelet winner in Yaser Al-Keliddar and Phong Nguyen for example. Nguyen ended a short bubble by flopping quad jacks and cracking the aces of his opponent.

PokerNews will be back at noon local time on Sunday, February 9 to bring you all the action from the floor until the first official PWPO Champion has been crowned.
