Dentale and Dunn Chop One Up

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Ryan Dunn opened to 1,000 from under the gun and was called by Michael Dentale one seat over as well as Robert Cohen out of the small blind and the big blind player.

Action checked to Dentale on a flop of {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and he led out for 2,000. All three of his opponents called to keep action four-handed going to the turn.

The turn came {a-Spades} with Cohen, the big blind and Dunn all checking once again. Though he had received three callers on the flop, Dentale was in no mood slow down, instead making it 5,000 to go. As on the flop, none of his opponents were persuaded to fold.

For a third time, action was checked to Dentale after the {7-Hearts} river and for a third time he bet, firing off 15,000. That got two quick folds from Cohen and the big blind but Dunn opted to call, turning over {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for top-top. Dentale revealed he too held big slick, tabling {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} to chop up the pot with Dunn. 'That's a big call' Dentale remarked as the dealer divided the pot, before continuing 'that is the worst hand I could have there'.

Apter Prevails in Cagey Encounter

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

A player opened to 900 from early position and was called by James Kraetz in middle position as well as a player in the cutoff. Brett Apter then three-bet to 4,300 on the button with the blinds quickly getting out of the way to send the action back to the early position player. He decided to four-bet to 11,900 which was met by prompt folds from Kraetz and the cutoff but not Apter who, after some deliberation, flatted.

The table had been quite chatty prior to the hand but as the two players went heads-up to the flop with a big pot brewing, all previous conversation died away. The early position player led out for 7,000 after the flop came {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Apter decided to make the call.

The {7-Diamonds} turn saw the early position player check to Apter and he, after a fair amount of time, bet out 7,500. That sent the early position player deep into the tank but, with a slight sigh, he eventually mucked to send a decently large pot Apter's way.

Roof Folds Turn

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Marshall Roof, fresh off a runner-up finish in Event #1: $400 Mystery Bounty for a career high $53,458, opened to 2,000 from under the gun and was called by a player in middle position as well as the button.

Roof checked following the {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop and the middle position player led out for 3,000. The button folded while Roof called to send action heads-up to the turn.

The {9-Hearts} turn saw Roof check for a second time and then fold after his opponent announced a bet of 8,000, taking a minor hit to his stack.

Hershey Forced to Fold

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

A player limped from middle position before the player to their immediate left raised to 2,800. Jacob Hershey called on the button as did the big blind and the limper to generate four-way action heading to the flop.

The big blind and middle position players both checked on the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} flop and the preflop raiser continued for 4,000. That bet was called by Hershey while the two other players folded.

The {2-Diamonds} turn saw Hershey's opponent continue his aggression with a bet of 7,500. Hershey, after asking to see how much the other player had behind, did commit calling chips.

The {6-Diamonds} river completed the board, prompting the player who had shown no qualms at pushing the action throughout the hand to move all in. Hershey open folded {6-Spades}{5-Spades}, remarking 'I should've raised the flop'.

Fard Doubles Up

Level 5 : 300/600, 600 ante

A player opened to 1,500 from middle position and was called by Payam Fard on the button as well as the big blind player.

Action checked to Fard on a flop of {4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and he led out for 2,200. Both of his opponents called to keep action three-handed heading to the turn.

The big blind checked for a second time following the {k-Diamonds} turn. At this point, the middle position player took over the betting lead, firing off 8,000. Fard was not yet ready to release his hand and called while the big blind got out of the way.

The middle position player moved all in with the covering stack after the {3-Hearts} river completed the board, putting Fard to the ultimate test. After a moments thought he sigh called but received a full double after turning over {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} for top two pair.
