Aaron Wright Bags The Day 1d Chip Lead

Level 19 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Aaron Wright
Aaron Wright

Day 1d has come to an end with Aaron Wright emerging on top after bagging 952,000 in chips, which claims the overall top spot from all the survivors of the first four flights of Event #1: $400 Mystery Bounty. Wright surged late in the night after getting all-in with a combo draw and catching a flush on the river for a large pot. From that point on, Wright built to his stack, including a hand where he busted Brayden Daehler after flopping trips. The next largest stacks from Day 1d were Dan Matei (841,000) and Jacob Hershey (745,000).

Day 1d began with 75 players and by the time late registration ended, that number had grown to 340, which didn't quite match the 403 entrants from Day 1c earlier in the day. Altogether, Event #1: $400 Mystery Bounty has attracted 1,355 entries between four flights. That number will continue to increase as there are still two more flights to go.

After a lengthy bubble lasting nearly two full levels, the money was reached after Michael Lerner busted a short-stacked player with pocket queens. With many short stacks present, it didn't take long after for an additional seven players to bust to end play for the day — all of which received $500 for their efforts today.

The surviving 27 players from Day 1d will join the survivors from all the other Day 1 flights beginning on Sunday, January 29 at noon for Day 2. Pokernews will be providing coverage for Day 1e next at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, so be sure to follow for all the action as Event #1: $400 Mystery Bounty continues.

Lerner KO's Opponent to Burst The Money Bubble

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
The bubble girl
The bubble girl

A very short-stacked player shoved for her last 30,000 from early position and was called by the player on the button. Michael Lerner announced he was all in from the big blind and the button folded.

Michael Lerner: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Early-position player: {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}

The {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} runout failed to help the short-stacked player and she was eliminated on the bubble.

Each of the remaining players is now guaranteed a $500 payout. Play will continue until 27 players remain.

Four players were all-in preflop. One short stack from early position, Michael Lerner from middle position, another short stack in middle position, and Andrew Voor in the small blind, who had everyone covered.

Michael Lerner: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Andrew Voor: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Short stack #1: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Short Stack #2: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades} — leaving Lerner best for the main pot with a set of nines. Voor scooped a small side pot with his two pair.

Neiman Surges Into The Chip Lead

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Phil Neiman
Phil Neiman

Phil Neiman was involved in a very large pot wherein Neiman had flopped top pair with {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} on a {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop against a lone opponent who held {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a flush draw.

Neiman explained that his opponent ovebet shoved on the flop and Neiman called.

The board completed with a {7-Diamonds} turn and {k-Clubs} river — leaving Neiman best and sending him the massive pot.

Three-Way All in Leads to Triple up For Sabogali

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Alberto Sabogali
Alberto Sabogali

Three players ended up all-in preflop after a raising war broke out between Alberto Sabogali in the cutoff, the player on the button, and the player in the big blind.

Alberto Sabogali: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Button: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Big blind: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The {10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop and {8-Diamonds} turn left Sabogali drawing to one out, as the {j-Diamonds} would give the button a flush.

A fateful {j-Hearts} completed the board, however, leaving Sabogali best with a set of jacks. Sabogali was the shortest of the three stacks with 19,700 and he tripled up.

Chernigoff Sends One to The Rail

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Glenn Chernigoff
Glenn Chernigoff

Heads-up on a flop of {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} with about 3,000 already in the middle, the player in the big blind bet 1,500 and was raised to 3,200 by Glenn Chernigoff on the button. Undeterred, the big blind shoved for around 6,000 total and Chernigoff quickly called.

Big blind: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Glenn Chernigoff: {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Chernigoff had his opponent drawing to one out, which did not come in on the {2-Clubs} turn or {j-Spades} river and Chernigoff eliminated his opponent.

Chernigoff, who took 4th place in the 2020 Potomac Winter Poker Open Main Event, will be looking to make a deep run in today's event with his now above-average stack.

Day 1d of Event #1: $400 Mystery Bounty Set to Begin at 5 p.m.

MGM National Harbor Grand Ballroom
MGM National Harbor Grand Ballroom

Welcome to Day 1d of Event #1: $400 Mystery Bounty here at the MGM National Harbor. The event, which features a $500k guarantee, has already attracted 612 entrants between Day 1a and Day 1b. Day 1c, which began earlier today at 11 a.m., is currently up to 376 entries with late registration still available until the end of level 11.

Last night, Shouyi Gao bagged the overall event lead after accumulating 920,000 in chips. He is followed by Jacob Mitich (806,000), Lashawn Myles (670,000), and Day 1a chip leader David Simard (663,000). Thus far, 48 players have secured a Day 2 birth (22 from Day 1a and 26 from Day 1b). With Day 1c already underway and an additional 3 flights to go, this number is expected to increase significantly as more players enter.

Cards will be in the air at 5 p.m. local time. Players will begin with 25,000 in tournament chips with blinds starting at 100/100 and a 100 big-blind ante. All Day 1 levels will last 30 minutes and players may re-enter until the beginning of level 12. Players will reach the money once 10% of the field remains and play will continue until 8% of the field remains, whereupon the surviving players will bag and tag for Day 2. All Day 1 payouts are fixed at $500 and all Day 2 payouts will exceed $500.

Additionally, all surviving players who make it to Day 2 will be designated as a mystery bounty. From that point on, any player who knocks another player out of the tournament will be given a mystery bounty receipt, which can then be redeemed at the mystery bounty redemption table. Each receipt can range in value anywhere from the lowest prize of $50 all the way up to the top prize of $25,000.

Day 2 will begin on Sunday, January 29th at 12 p.m. and feature increased 45-minute levels. The Day 2 tournament clock will begin at the shortest time played in any one of the previous flights. Play on Day 2 will continue until a winner is determined.
