Sunday brings the first big Day 2 of the Potomac Summer Poker Open, with the $600 NLH Opener returning for all the marbles, but it's not all about the Opener with a trio of exciting new events starting:

The big one is Event #1 Day 2, with the remaining players from the $600 NLH Opener returning to battle for their share of the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

There are also plenty of fresh tournaments to get stuck into, including the Super Seniors, a $500 NLH event and the evening Black Chip Bounty.

Srikar Koser and Alex Snow teamed up for the first time and outlasted a field of 288 players to win Event #3, the $300 Tag Team, earning $7,259 after an ICM chop.

The pair credited some timely run good for helping them navigate the field. At one point, Koser and Snow were down to just three big blinds, but they managed to find a double up with Ax4x. They then found another crucial double when their pocket sixes cracked pocket jacks after making a straight.

"We wouldn't be here if we didn't get some run good," Snow said.

The run good continued through the final hand, when their KxQx was up against Ax10x all in preflop. The K♦ fell on the river, securing the win and completing their comeback.

Afterward, the first-time tag team partners celebrated their victory, with Koser telling Snow, "Wouldn't have done this with anyone else, buddy."

Bubble Bursts in Flight G of the Opener

The players involved in the hand that burst the bubble chose not to identify themselves, but they shared some of the details of the hand with PokerNews.

Two players went all in preflop, one holding KxKx, the other AxJx.

The flop came Qx high. The K♦ hit the turn, giving the player with pocket kings a set and leaving his opponent drawing to a ten to complete a straight.

The river was a blank, and the kings held to secure the pot.

Poker Players Who Care Represent in the Tag Team Event

Raea Jean Leinster and David Frutchey are at MGM National Harbor and are playing the tag team event tonight, but they are also representing a poker community with a bigger mission.

The pair are members of Poker Players Who Care, a Northern Virginia group that brings together poker players who enjoy the game while raising money for charitable causes.

“We are fun, savvy, sophisticated, serious poker players who also love raising money for various causes and charities,” Leinster said.

The group's annual event takes place each February, and this year's event raised more than $75,000 for children's charities and initiatives throughout Northern Virginia.

Many other Poker Players Who Care members have also made their way to MGM National Harbor for the Potomac Poker Open, giving Leinster and Frutchey a chance to reconnect with fellow members and support their teammates at the tables.
