There was a trophy on the felt in the $500 Seniors event, but it wasn't for the winner. No, the glass trophy in question belonged to Virginia's MaClaren Chatham, who won it earlier this year in a previous Potomoac Poker Open seniors event.

Chatham was going for his third straight Potomac Poker Open title when PokerNews' Joe Garrett spoke to him. He chopped the August 2025 edition heads-up for $12,050, and more recently won the Potomac Winter Poker Open event in February outright for $22,685.

"It's been a tough table so far," Chatham said early in the day. "Going for back-to-back-to-back. Three seniors titles at the Potomac Poker Open."

But Chatham had an interesting strategy for getting his opponents to stay out of his way, which brings us back to his tall glass trophy, which he used as a card protector.

"My raises weren't getting the proper respect. So I had to bring out the intimidation purposes."

Chatham ended up busting outside of the money, but he still walked away with the trophy.
