Blake Vincent Leads Run It Up Reno Main Event Final Table; Jason Somerville in Contention!

Welcome back to the Peppermill Resort Hotel and the 2016 Run It Up Reno festival hosted by Jason Somerville for the $565 Main Event Final Table!

Just a few days ago, 391 players took to the felt spread over three day one flights to smash the prizepool guarantee. The field was a mix of WSOP bracelet winners, seasoned tournament veterans, local legends and poker amateurs as everyone looked to navigate their way to an elusive Main Event final table. And now we are here.

There are eight players remaining in the marquee event of the Run It Up Reno festival and each player is already guaranteed a $2,930 payday. However all eyes are on the $46,410 first prize, Run It Up Reno trophy and title of Main Event Champion.

Blake Vincent has the major advantage today as he is leading the final eight players into today as the overwhelming chip leader with 4,635,000; good for nearly half of the chips in play. Vincent shot up to the leaderboard when he busted Chad Holloway on the final table bubble when his set of eights outdrew Holloway's overpair.

Brian Ebert is the only other player with a seven-figure stack as he sits with 2,415,000 in chips after building a stack early on Day 2 and never relenting as he slowly motored his way up the leaderboard. The remaining six players are all clumped together as Jason Somerville will be one of the ones to watch. Not only is Somerville the most experienced of all the players with over $3.5 million in tournament earnings, 39 lifetime cashes and a WSOP bracelet, but is also the host of this Run It Up Reno festival.

However, all the final table combatants have played outstanding poker this last few days, and it truly is anyone's tournament if they can run some timely bluffs, hit a rush of cards, and navigate their way up the leaderboard to be crowned the winner.

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante
Eric Shiarla
Eric Shiarla

Eric Shiarla shoved all in when action folded to his button. Jason Somerville moved all in as well in the small blind, and the big blind mucked.

Shiarla: {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Somerville: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs} and the turn was a {k-Hearts}, so Shiarla needed a jack. The river was a {5-Clubs}, and Somerville counted down a stack of 475,000. Shiarla had only about 430,000, so he is done in eighth.

The action folded to Loren Cloninger in the cutoff and he moved all in for 765,000. Gary Kochalka called all-in from the big blind for 680,000 and the cards were tabled.

Kochalka: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Cloninger: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}

Kochalka was flipping for his tournament life, and when the {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Clubs} board was spread, Kochalka hit the rail in 7th place for a $4,300 payday as Cloninger moved to over 1.5 million.

Brian Ebert - 6th place

The action folded round to Brian Ebert in the cutoff and he moved all in for 265,000. Jason Somerville iso-shoved from the small blind and the cards were tabled.

Ebert: {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Somerville: {Q-Spades}{10-Spades}

With Ebert at a huge disadvantage, the {J-Hearts}{2-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop changed little until the {7-Hearts} landed on the turn.

"You've got some chop-portunity!" announced Somerville.

The river landed the {8-Diamonds} and Ebert was eliminated in 6th place for a $5,670 payday as Somerville eclipses the 1.1 million chip mark.

From under the gun, Jeffrey Newman moved all in for 450,000 and when the action folded round to Jason Somerville in the big blind, he called.

Newman: {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Somerville: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop saw Somerville further his advantage as he reduced Newman's outs by two.

The turn of the {6-Hearts} changed little, and when the {Q-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Newman hit the rail in 5th place for a $8,210 payday as Somerville climbed to over 2.6 million in chips.

Vincent Doubles with Trips

Blake Vincent doubles with trips
Blake Vincent doubles with trips

From the button, Blake Vincent opened to 250,000 and Jason Somerville three-bet the small blind to 575,000.

Vincent called, and on the {K-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop, he checked out of turn before Somerville opted to bet out 255,000. Vincent moved all in for 1,190,000 and Somerville quickly called.

Somerville: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Vincent: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

With Vincent in strong shape to double, the {10-Clubs} and {4-Hearts} on the turn and river would ensure his double to 3.7 million as Somerville dropped to 825,000.

Action folded to Jason Somerville, and he announced he was all in from the small blind. It was 775,000. Jordan Spurlin called.

Spurlin: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Somerville: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The dealer spread a {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop, giving Spurlin top pair and a flush draw.

"That's a good flop for you," Somerville observed.

The turn was an {8-Hearts}, giving Somerville some outs to a flush. A red card peeled off the deck but it was the {k-Diamonds}, no help to Somerville, who exited to applause from the crowd.

Loren Cloninger opened to 225,000 on the button and snap-called when Jordan Spurlin raised all in for 1 million or so in the big blind.

Cloninger: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Spurlin: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}

The sweat was a short one was {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} hit the felt to give Cloninger a set. Spurlin's best hope was a chop, but the {8-Spades} finished him on the turn, and a meaningless {j-Hearts} hit the river.

Loren Cloninger limped in, and Blake Vincent made it 320,000 to go. Cloninger called. The flop came down {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, and Vincent bet out 350,000. Cloninger thought about 30 seconds and announced all in. Vincent asked for the 350,000 to be pulled in, and the count was 1,395,000 more. Vincent called.

Cloninger: {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Vincent: {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Neither player had the ace, and Vincent led with nines. The dealer burned and turned a {9-Spades}, giving Vincent unbeatable trips. He stood up and pumped his fist as the meaningless {4-Spades} arrived on the river.

Blake Vincent Wins 2016 Run It Up Reno Main Event for $46,410

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
Blake Vincent
Blake Vincent

Blake Vincent came in with nearly half of the chips in play at the final table of the 2016 Run It Up Reno $565 Main Event, so anything less than first place would have undoubtedly been a disappointment. There were a few moments where things looked a bit grim for him, but he pulled through and took down the 391-entry event for $46,410.

When the final day began, though, all eyes were on Jason Somerville, Run It Up patriarch and tournament host. He came into the day with just over seven big blinds, but he got moving immediately, busting Eric Shiarla in eighth place when Shiarla shipped on the button with the {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Somerville picked up the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} in the big blind. He hit two pair to bust Shiarla.

Many of Somerville's hard-won chips went to Vincent though, as Somerville made a nine-high straight when Vincent rivered the nut straight, and Somerville paid off a sizable river raise. The board had ran out {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, and Somerville mucked the {6-Spades} face-up after Vincent showed him the {j-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Gary Kochalka was next to fall, though he ran it back up after being down to just over one ante. He got the last of it in with the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and failed to improve against the fives of Loren Cloninger. Brian Ebert came in with the second-biggest stack by far, but was simply unable to get anything going and he ended up going down in sixth shortly thereafter.

It looked like Somerville's run was at an end when he got sixes in and found himself at risk against Jeff Newman, who woke up with kings behind him, but a six on the flop kept Somerville in it. Newman was left short and busted in fifth.

Vincent was the victim of a horrible bad beat when Jordan Spurlin jammed his last 7.5 big blinds with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and managed to hit trip nines against Vincent's {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. Vincent hit his low point as he was down to 13 big blinds, but he followed that up with a big double against Somerville on a {k-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flop. Somerville had raised Vincent's limp with the {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} but Vincent had the {a-Spades}{9-Clubs} for trips.

Somerville was left short and jammed blind versus blind with the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}, getting a call from Spurlin's {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The board ran out {6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, and Somerville took his leave to applause from the crowd.

Cloninger opened on the button three-handed with kings, and Spurlin shoved with a pair of fours in the hole. Cloninger flopped a king to effectively end things early, and heads-up play commenced with Vincent narrowly in the lead.

The match ended up being a one-sided affair, as Cloninger was unable to mount much resistance. Vincent ended things in Level 30 (60,000/120,000/15,000) when Cloninger limped and Vincent raised to 320,000. Cloninger called and the {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds} flopped. Vincent bet 350,000, and Cloninger shoved for about 1.4 million more. Vincent called with the {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}, and Cloninger had the {8-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

The king-nine that caused Vincent anguish earlier was his ticket to victory this time, as he banged off a {9-Spades} on the turn to seal the win.
