Remaining RIU Reno VIII Social Events

While most come for the poker, many attendees will take advantage of RIU Reno VIII's full slate of social events.

This week those have included a cash game hangout with Andrew Neeme and Brad Owen, the RIU Reno VIII Scavenger Hunt, a Karaoke Party at EDGE Nightclub, and last night's Survivor Watch Party at Sorrento.

Moreno's Got Good Vibes With This Flip

A player in the big blind ripped his last 24,800 in after a raise on the button from Johnnie "JohnnieVibes" Moreno, and Moreno called to put him at risk.

Moreno bricked the flop, but the turn was gin for Moreno's Big Slick. The failed to deliver a jack for Moreno's opponent, and he scored the knockout.

Trettenero Rips It

A player opened to 3,000 from UTG, and Joe "Stapes" Stapleton folded what he later told us was "ace-ten with one diamond" next to act. Jeff Trettenero called in the hijack, as did the cutoff, button and big blind.

The big blind checked a flop to the UTG player, who bet 6,000. Trettenero jammed for 50,900, sending the button into the tank. After a few minutes, he folded, as did the rest of the field. Trettenero showed for the nuts.

The button said he folded two pair, prompting Stapleton to say, "You folded two pair? Good fold!"

Newland Falls Into A Webb

David Larson raised to 2,300 from the lojack, and Vincent Newland called in the hijack. Mel Webb three-bet shoved for 18,600 from the cutoff, and Larson folded. Newland tanked for a bit before taking a single chip and tossing it in the pot to call.

Webb spiked a queen on the flop, and ended up with a full house after the turn and river, earning him the double.

Trivett Gets a Bailout

A player raised to 2,500 from the hijack, and Michael Trivett three-bet to 8,000 from the cutoff. The button four-bet jammed for 21,800, and after the hijack folded, Trivett confirmed the amount, then called.

Trivett got help in a hurry when the flop gave him trip sevens and a huge lead. The turn and river were safe for Trivett, and he eliminated his opponent.

Mangold's Not Afraid

A player raised to 2,100 from UTG, and Jason Mangold called from UTG+1, as did the button, and Frank Lagodich, who final tabled the $1,100 Thursday Thrilla, in the big blind.

Lagodich checked the flop over to the UTG player, who bet 4,500. Mangold jammed for 56,000, and the button and Lagodich folded.

The UTG player thought for a moment, and Mangold said, "I promise you, I'm not bluffing." Mangold agreed to show if his opponent folded, and he turned over once his opponent mucked.

Liu's Jacks Lose A Flip

Patrick Truong raised to 1,800 from UTG+1, and Sasha Liu three-bet to 7,400 in the big blind. Truong thought for a bit before four-bet jamming for 27,800, and after a minute in the tank, Liu made the call for most of her remaining stack.

The flop brought middle set for Liu and Broadway for Truong. Liu needed to fill up to knock out Truong, but the turn and river bricked off, shipping the double to Truong.

Owen Can't Force A Fold

With around 5,000 in the pot, 2019 GPI People's Choice Award winner Brad Owen bet 2,200 from the cutoff facing a flop. His opponent on the button called.

The peeled off on the turn, and Owen bet 4,500. The button confirmed the amount, then tossed in a call.

Both players quickly checked the river, and Owen announced, "Ace-high," before turning over . His opponent tabled for a better ace-high and the winner.
