Hammarstrom Gets Paid on the River
Level 4
: Blinds 300/500, 0 ante
Action went heads-up to a flop of A♥8♣J♦ in a hand between Brian Metzger in the small blind and Nick Hammarstrom in the big blind.
Metzger led out with a bet of 2,500 and Hammarstrom made the call, bringing the J♣ turn.
Metzger slowed down with a check and Hammarstrom fired out a bet of 11,000. Metzger made the call.
On the 2♦ river, Metzger put out a block bet of 6,500. Hammarstrom responded with a raise to 30,000, which prompted Metzger to go into the tank.
After some consideration, Metzger made the call and tabled A♦9♦ for two pair, aces and jacks. He saw the bad news when Hammarstrom turned over J♠5♠ for three of a kind, jacks.
