Estrellado Doubles Against Rummonds

This hand was picked up on the flop of 9♦8♠7♠ with over 30,000 in the middle. Eric Estrellado checked from the small blind before Ryan Rummonds bet. Estrellado responded with a check-raise to 35,000, which put the decision back to Rummonds.

Rummonds called to bring the 3♥ turn. Estrellado shipped it for 66,000 on the turn. Rummonds went into the tank as he cut out calling chips and mulled over his decision. Rummonds eventually made the call to put Estrellado at risk.

Estrellado was in the lead with a pair of eights, while Rummonds was chasing a straight draw, but only the jack would score him the pot outright, as both were sharing the lower straight draw.

The 5♦ river was a blank in favor of Estrellado as he dragged in the pot.

Aaron Overton was down to one card left when the three of clubs river changed the trajectory of his tournament and began Overton’s comeback to a RunGood Poker Series Passport Graton $1,100 Main Event title at the Graton Resort Casino back in March.

“I wanted to play for the win,” Overton said. “The (pocket) threes is probably a fold normally, but I felt like gambling a bit more for a win in that scenario.”

Overton’s decision turned his fortune around for the better, as he rode that momentum to a $94,050 score, outlasting a total of 578 entries to get the biggest slice of the $563,550 prize pool against a tough final table that included three-time RGPS winner Brett Murray and two-time RGPS ring winner Xiong Thao.

Rabinowitz Leaves Tanimoto with Crumbs

Darren Rabinowitz got it going with an open to 6,000 from under the gun. Arthur Tanimoto called from the next seat over, and the big blind joined to create a three-handed pot.

The 2♠9♦8♠ flop led to a check from the big blind. Rabinowitz continued for 11,000. Tanimoto and the big blind both called.

It was checked to Rabinowitz on the 2♣ turn before he went all-in for 38,000 total. Tanimoto went into the tank for some time before he put in the call. The big blind folded as Rabinowitz went to a showdown at risk.

Rabinowitz got it in good as he held a pair of nines with a better kicker, as Tanimoto was searching for a ten to win the pot.

John Wasnock began the action with an open to 3,500 from the hijack. The cutoff went all-in, and Wasnock called to put himself at risk for 45,000.

Wasnock was ahead, but his opponent had the best drawing hand in the game as they went to a runout.

Wasnock's nines stayed in good shape on the 3♥2♠3♣ flop.

The 6♥ was of no threat to Wasnock and the 10♣ sealed it in his favor as Wasnock doubled.

The hijack gave it a brief consideration before he made the fold to award the pot to Hellmuth.

Zachary Smyth shoved from the small blind to apply max pressure on the big blind, who was a short stack. The big blind woke up with a hand they were willing to go with, as they called to put themselves at risk for 17,500.

The big blind was in a great position to double up, as they only needed to fade the ten as an immediate concern as they went to a runout.

Smyth would find his ten twice when the flop came 10♠5♦10♣, improving to trip tens and sinking the big blind to a two-outer.

The K♠ turn and the 5♠ river upgraded Smyth to a full house as he scored the elimination.
