Presley Doubles Through Berry in Monster Blind Battle

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Terry Presley
Terry Presley

According to Bernard Lee, Terry Presley raised to 7,000 when action folded to his small blind and then called a three-bet to about 15,000 from Will Berry. Presley then led out 30,000 on the {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop, and Berry shoved all in. Presley called it off for about 100,000 with {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a flopped flush, while Berry had {a-}{a-} with no heart. He was drawing dead after the {4-Diamonds} turn.

Jonathan Gaviao
Jonathan Gaviao

Jonathan Gaviao was all in before the flop with {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}, having been called by Issac Tucker, who held {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, ending Gaviao's day.

Gauthier Binks a Miracle Agains Blase

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Lauren Blase thought she had a winner after the flop.
Lauren Blase thought she had a winner after the flop.

Lauren Blase opened for what looked to be about 6,000 and then called the shove of Dalue Gauthier, who had 12,900.

Gauthier: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Blase: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

"Ah, I'm way behind," Blase said in disappointment.

She went to way ahead after the {j-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop, though.

"Always right there," Gauthier said of the dreaded ace.

A {j-Spades} turn left him drawing to just the {k-Clubs} on the river, but amazingly enough, it appeared, causing some shouts from the players.

Brady Bullard busted late in Day 1a.
Brady Bullard busted late in Day 1a.

According to the players at Brady Bullard's old table, Bullard three-bet an open from Chris Conrad, and Conrad four-bet shoved. Bullard called, and he flopped a set with {j-}{j-}, only to see Conrad run a flush with {a-}{k-}.

Bullard, an Oklahoma native who is one of the four who chopped last month's RunGoodGear.com Hard Rock Tulsa, will more than likely be back tomorrow for Day 1b.

Gaviao Tank-Calls, Loses

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

JW Lorett was in early position, and he check-called 8,000 from Jonathan Gaviao on a {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop. Both players checked the {10-Hearts} turn, and Lorett fired out 20,500 on the {j-Clubs} river. Gaviao got out of his seat in consternation, thinking for about a minute before dropping in a call.

Lorett showed {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a turned set and a full house on the river.

"Still had outs," Gaviao said softly.

Murff Gets There Versus Brown; Andrews Busted

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 400 ante

Joey Brown bet 6,700 on a {7-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop from the button, and David Murff made it 20,000 more from the big blind. Brown shoved all in, and Murff called right away.

Murff: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Brown: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Both had flopped top pair, but Brown had the better kicker. Murff, though, had a heart flush draw. Instead, it was a straight he hit as the {3-Clubs} hit the turn and the {5-Spades} on the river.

At the other table, Justin Gardenhire busted Andy Andrews.
