Welcome to Day 2 of RunGood Cup Championship (full)

Tim Woodson
Tim Woodson

Three starting flights are in the books, and it's time to get serious at the RunGood Cup Championship, as Day 2 has dawned here at Harrah's New Orleans with 81 runners set to take their seats.

Tim Woodson will be the chip leader when play begins, having bagged 359,000 on Day 1b, making him far and away the leader over Day 1a's Chris Torres (244,000). Other top stacks include Jeremy Eyer (217,000), Russell Sartin (210,000), and Ray Henson (203,500).

Blinds will begin at Level 14 (2,000/4,000/500), and progress through the day with each level lasting 45 minutes, a major step up from Day 1's 30-minute levels that will dictate a change in the pace of play. Breaks will be every three levels, with a 45-minute dinner break upon the reaching of the final table. Cards are scheduled to fly at noon, so pay attention to see who claims a first-place prize of more than $50,000.

Brandon Fish
Brandon Fish

Jay Zheng pushed all in from middle position, and Brandon Fish tanked awhile and called off his 26,000 a few seats later.

Zheng: {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Fish: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}

Fish had some good fortune in races when he won RunGood Council Bluffs, but variance was not with him on this day as the board ran out {10-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, eliminating the former champ.

Tepen Turns One Dead

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Ryan Tepen
Ryan Tepen

Ryan Tepen opened under the gun to 13,000 and got one caller. The big blind announced a reraise and put in his 13,000 followed by another 50,000. Tepen thought about 30 seconds and shoved all in. The squeezed player folded and the big blind called off about 100,000 more.

Tepen: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Big blind: {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

The flop came {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the turn was a {6-Spades}, leaving the big blind drawing dead.

The tournament is now on the money bubble.

Rager Bubbles With Aces

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Tim Woodson
Tim Woodson

Brett Rager bet 31,000 in middle position after the big blind checked an {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop. Tim Woodson was on his immediate left and raised to 76,000. The big blind folded, and Rager thought about a minute and said he was all in for what looked like around 100,000 total. Woodson snap-called with {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Rager turned up {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. The turn and river were both blanks, and Rager was eliminated on the bubble.

Strong Laydown from Harrison

Corey Harrison
Corey Harrison

A player opened to 18,000 early and got one call. Corey Harrison repopped to 45,000 in middle position, and Ben Thomas asked for a count of his stack. Moments later, Thomas announced he was all in, folding out everyone but Harrison, who sighed after thinking awhile.

"I guess you have aces or kings," he said, flipping {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} into the muck face-up.

Thomas showed two kings.

Grantel Gibbs opened for a raise in the small blind, and he called fairly quickly when big blind Chris Savage put him all in for about 300,000.

"I've only looked at this one," Savage said, revealing the {a-Diamonds}. His other card proved to be the {7-Hearts}.

Gibbs confidently flipped {a-Spades}{j-Spades} over. The dealer spread a flop of {j-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, leaving Savage nearly dead. However, the miracle hit as running {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} came off the deck on the last two streets. Gibbs took the beat with grace, wishing everyone good luck.

George Haik Eliminated in 8th Place ($6,300)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
George Haik - 8th Place
George Haik - 8th Place

George Haik was on the button and he called a 100,000 open from Chris Torres, who was in early position. Torres checked the {2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, and Haik bet 100,000. Torres said he was all in, and Haik wasted no time calling off his 900,000.

Torres: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Haik: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

It was a brutal flop for Haik, whose overpair was drawing nearly dead.

"Well, time to go to bed," he said with a laugh. Indeed, two inconsequential cards later, he was eliminated.
