Day 1a Started

Welcome to Day 1a of the RunGood Poker Series Hard Rock Tulsa

The RunGood Poker Series is making its second stop at the Hard Rock Tulsa and is expecting big turnouts, hoping to match the success of a recent stop in Council Bluffs, Iowa, where they saw 426 entrants across three days destroy the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool. Henry Gingerich took home a good chunk of the $250,000+ prize pool, banking $39,083 and a WSOP main event seat.

The same $100,000 guarantee is in place here in Tulsa, as is the $10,000 WSOP seat for the winner. The first of three day-one flights will kickoff shortly at 7 p.m. local time. Saturday should provide the bulk of the field with flights scheduled at Noon and 7 p.m. The expectation is to play 12 30-minute levels, with level times increasing on Sunday when the survivors will combine for Day 2.

Many of the RunGood Ambassadors have converged on Tulsa to play in the preliminary events and are expected to play the main event, including: Dan "Wretchy" Martin, Justin Gardenhire, Lauren Kling, Jonathan Gaviao and Amanda Baker.

Stay with us, as PokerNews will be providing live reporting of the Main Event throughout the next three days here at Hard Rock Tulsa.

Newcombe Building Early

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

John Newcombe has taken a couple of decent pots early on, twice getting to the river. First, Newcombe raised an opponent's river bet with a board of {3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. He was called and showed a jack-high flush to take the pot. Next, Newcombe tangled with RunGood pro Ross Bybee. Three-way preflop action was reduced to just Newcombe and Bybee who both checked the turn with a board of {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. The {7-Diamonds} fell on the river and Bybee led for 600. Newcombe raised to 1,700 and raked his second straight pot after Bybee laid it down.

Kling Picks One Off

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Action folded around to the player in the small blind who put in a raise to 250. Lauren Kling made the call from the big blind and the flop came {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Kling's opponent led for 400 and Kling called. The {7-Clubs} on the turn brought another bet, this time for 600 and again Kling called. The {3-Clubs} river didn't slow the aggressor down and he bet 2,000. Kling thought for a moment, eyeing her opponent and eventually made the call.

Kling's opponent sheepishly turned over {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for a busted flush draw and Kling showed {j-Spades}{10-Spades} and her top pair was good enough to take the pot.

Karn Cracks a Couple

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

We caught the action three ways with a board of {10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} and action checked to Papa Karn, who bet 2,500 from the button. Both opponents called and the {10-Spades} came on the river. After a check and a bet of 6,000, Karn thought for a moment and then made the call.

The third opponent was beside himself, but wisely found a laydown, mucking two aces face up. Karn tabled {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for the full house, besting the {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} of his opponent. Karn, who has been very active early on, has built a decent stack thus far.
