Set Over Set

Andre Allen limped under the gun and called a raise from Jose Montes to about 21,000. Both checked the {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and a {5-Clubs} hit the turn. Allen bet 29,000, and Montes moved all in. Allen seemed pained but called after about 30 seconds.

Allen: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Montes: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

It was set over set on the flop, and the {6-Diamonds} filled both players up but Montes held the bigger boat.

The tournament is now hand-for-hand on the bubble.

Fink Doubles Through Montes

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Mark Fink
Mark Fink

Mark Fink opened to 20,000 early, and Jose Montes made it 55,000 in the big blind. Fink moved all in after a couple of minutes, and Montes snap-called.

Fink: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}
Montes: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Fink had two outs but one arrived immediately on the {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds} flop. He still needed to fade tens and queens, and the {7-Clubs} turn and {3-Spades} river were safe.

Gunhus Can't Get Away

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Alex Gunhus
Alex Gunhus

Duster Ellis opened for 26,000 and both blinds called. Everyone checked the flop, and the board was {9-Spades}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs} on fourth street. Gunhus led 45,000 and Phan called. On the {10-Spades} river, Gunhus bet 60,000. Phan said he was all in.

"Wow," Gunhus said. "Slowplaying me the whole way huh?"

After a minute or two, he flicked in a calling chip.

Phan showed {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for a boat, and he had hit a perfect river as Gunhus had {a-Spades}{7-Spades} for an ace-high flush.

Jose Montes Eliminated in 10th Place ($2,836)

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Jose Montes - 10th Place
Jose Montes - 10th Place

Three players saw a {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop for the minimum, and everyone checked. Jose Montes led out 40,000 on the {a-Hearts} out of the small blind, and Ryan Phan called from his left. Montes checked the {a-Diamonds} river, and Phan bet 90,000. Montes went into the tank, apologizing to his opponents after a couple of minutes. He pump-faked a couple of times then ultimately called.

Phan shook his head slightly and showed the {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}, but it was good.

Montes was left with three big blinds and went bust in a couple of hands.

Mark Fink Eliminated in 8th Place ($4,193)

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Mark Fink - 8th Place
Mark Fink - 8th Place

Four players saw a {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, and the big blind checked. Chris Wicks bet 70,000, and Jerry Moore raised to 325,000 from his immediate left. On the button, Mark Fink thought briefly and then shoved all in for 626,000. Wicks folded, and Moore thought about 20 seconds and announced a call.

Moore: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Fink: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Fink had top pair but only his flush draw was drawing live. The {7-Clubs} turn was a brick, and the {j-Diamonds} river likewise, and Moore is now massive chip leader with half of the chips in play.

Duster Ellis Eliminated in 7th Place ($4,871)

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Duster Ellis - 7th Place
Duster Ellis - 7th Place

Duster Ellis pushed all in for approximately 100,000 and was called by Chris Wicks in the small blind.

Ellis: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Wicks: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}, giving Ellis the lead with kings. The {9-Clubs} emerged on the turn to give Wicks a straight draw.

"Of course," someone on the rail said.

On the river, it was an {8-Spades} and Wicks clapped.
