"You're Crazy, Man"

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Just before the new level, we found Kipp Smith firing 11,000 out of the big blind on a {5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop. His opponent in middle position called, and Smith bet 16,000 more on the {4-Hearts} turn. He was called once more, so he finally checked the {10-Clubs} river. The middle player tossed 20,000 in, enough to put Smith all in for his last 17,400. Smith shook his head but called right away.

His opponent threw {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} into the middle, and Smith showed {9-Spades}{6-Spades} for tens and sixes.

"You're crazy, man," he said with a smile.

Reiss Eliminated

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

JR Reiss, a veteran of the game with $650K in tourney cashes dating to 2000, just went bust. He moved all in for 22,400 on a {10-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop, and Chunlei Yuan tank-called him.

Yuan: {j-Spades}{10-Spades}
Reiss: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Reiss was drawing, and the {k-Diamonds} turn increased his outs by bringing a flush draw. The {8-Clubs} river was a brick though.

Meier Eliminates Berthelsen

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Kevin Berthelsen check-jammed for 24,000 or so in the big blind after Dylan Meier bet 5,400 from middle position on a {q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop. Meier called.

Meier: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Berthelsen: {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}

"Give him his jack," Berthelsen urged the dealer.

It wasn't to be, as the {3-Clubs} then {a-Hearts} fell.

Bartlett Pays Off Hengen

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Cody Bartlett raised to 4,800 under the gun, and both blinds gave him action. They checked to him on the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} flop, and Bartlett bet 7,000. Big blind David Hengen put in 12,000 and was informed he would need to make it 14,000, which he did. Bartlett quickly called. Hengen bet 16,000 on the {j-Clubs} turn, and Bartlett called. He bet 17,000 more on the {k-Diamonds}, and Bartlett snap-called.

"I have a jack," Hengen said, showing {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

That was good, as Bartlett mucked his cards.

Trying to Go Hero

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Steve Pham
Steve Pham

Steve Pham and Drew Woodke were the two chip leaders, and they just clashed in a huge pot.

The board read {10-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades} on fourth street, and Pham checked to Woodke, who bet 7,000 on the button. Pham made it 19,000 to go, and Woodke called. On the {3-Diamonds} river, Pham bet 31,500, and Woodke snap-called.

Pham showed {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Woodke couldn't beat the trips.

"Tried to go hero on that one," Woodke mused. "All I had was a seven."
