Stroud Having Fun Going Over 100,000

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Matt Stroud
Matt Stroud

Matt Stroud was just seen with a pile of chips in front of him that appeared to be over six figures in total. He was kind enough to share his journey so far, stating that he had a few crazy hands to recount. He began to laugh as he said it, igniting even more laughter from tablemate Tim Gilliam, who was on Stroud's direct right.

Hand #1:

According to Stroud, he had called a raise with {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and went multiway (at least four ways) to a flop of {k-}{4-}{3-}. Action checked to Stroud and he bet 3,000. He received one caller before the turn came {6-}, giving him an open-ended straight draw. He bet another 6,000 and was called. The river fell {2-} to give him a straight and he went all in. His opponent called and sent his cards to the muck when Stroud tabled the backdoor straight.

Hand #2:

Moments later, Stroud opened again and received a call from the big blind. Stacks ended up getting in on a flop of {a-}{j-}{x-}.

Matt Stroud: {a-}{5-}-offsuit
Big Blind: {a-}{k-}

Despite flopping top pair, Stroud was way behind his opponent's top kicker to go along with it. The turn {4-} was of no help but the river fell {5-} to improve Stroud to aces up and send another player to the rail.

Hand #3:

Stroud raised preflop and found three callers to bring a flop of {x-Diamonds}{x-Diamonds}{x-Diamonds}. He made a continuation-bet of 4,000 and was raised all in by another player in the hand. He made the call.

Matt Stroud: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
All-In Player: {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Stroud's overpair of kings with the second-nut-flush draw was in need of improvement to his opponent's flopped flush. The turn came {6-Spades} and he was down to one card in order to improve to score a third knockout in short span. The river {6-Diamonds} fell in his favor to do just that, earning him a third knockout in a short timeframe and bringing him to around 110,000 in chips along the way.
