Jack Matsuura Victorious in RGPS CardPlayer Cruise Event #1: $170 Pro Bounty NLH

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Jack Matsuura

Last weekend, the RunGood Poker Series was on the high seas! They partnered with CardPlayer Cruises to host a series of events on a seven-day cruise in the Caribbean. There was a ton of poker action, and we thought it’d be fun to highlight some of the events right here in the blog.

In Event #1: $170 Pro Bounty NLH, 115 runners created an $8,750 prize pool that was paid out to the top seven players. Poker Hall of Famer Linda Johnson was one of the bounties and made it all the way to fourth place, though she was ineligible for the prize. That meant an extra spot got paid.

In the end, Jack Matsuura came out on top to win a $3,062 first-place prize.

Small Turn Bet Does the Trick for Bryant

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

After the under-the-gun player limped, Gayle Bryant raised to 300 next to act. A middle-position player called, Lawrence Layton called from the hijack, and John McMahan three-bet to 1,100 from the small blind.

The UTG limper folded, Bryant called, and the middle-position player got out of the way. Layton came along to make it three-way action to the flop, which came down {k-Spades}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}.

McMahan checked, Bryant bet 1,200, and both his opponents called to see the {10-Clubs} turn.

Again McMahan checked and Bryant bet another 1,200. This time it did the trick as both of his opponents released.

Brent Harrington Wins Second Championship Ring

Leading into the RGPS Hard Rock Tulsa stop was the inaugural Poker Industry Championship. On Monday, RunGood Events held an open-to-all preliminary event in the $135 buy-in 8-Game Mixer. Specifically, the games included: No-Limit Hold'em; Seven Card Stud; Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better; Razz; Pot-Limit Omaha; Limit Hold'em; Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better; and 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.

A total of 52 entries were recorded, with six players taking home a portion of the prize pool. With four players left, an unusual chop was negotiated. RG Ambassador Justin Gardenhire took home $1,300 and his stack was then removed from play while the remaining three players competed for the title of champion and the custom Signature Ring.

Play continued to well past 4 a.m. Tuesday, at the end of which RGPS and PokerNews live reporter Brent Harrington emerged as the event winner. It was Harrington's second championship ring this year, after taking down the RGPS Tunica PLO Event for $6,838.

Six players each committed 1,100 preflop and saw a flop of {9-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Action checked to John McMahan and he bet 2,500 from the cutoff.

Steven Glasscock, who was on the button, made the call and Daniel Lowery did the same out of the big blind. The other three players folded and the trio watched the dealer burn and turn the {7-Hearts}.

Lowery checked, McMahan bet 7,000, and Glasscock got out of the way. Lowery also released and McMahan took down the pot.

Caudill Shows a Lot of Hearts

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Tony Caudill
Tony Caudill

Tony Caudill limped under the gun and Charles Carpenter raised to 700 next to act. Action folded back to Caudill and he called to see the {3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Hearts} all-heart flop.

Caudill checked and called a bet of 1,000 from Carpenter.

After the dealer burned and turned the {4-Diamonds}, Caudill checked for the second time and Carpenter bet 2,500. Caudill woke up with an all-in check-raise to 10,400 total and Carpenter quickly called.

Charles Carpenter: {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Tony Caudill: {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Carpenter held jacks and fours but he was behind Caudill, who had flopped the flush. Carpenter was looking to pair either his jack or four, but it wasn't in the cards as the saw {7-Hearts} peeled off on the river. Ship the double to Caudill.
