The RunGood Poker Series main event at Council Bluffs Horseshoe started Friday at 7 p.m. This was the first of three starting flights for the first main event of the RGPS All Stars season.

Danny Padilla took the chip lead early and held it most of the night, only dipping to about 140,000 before finally bagging 382,000. Padilla was already going to bag the chip lead, but on the final hand of the night, he added even more. He called two all ins, both under 20 big blinds and managed to flop the best and hold. He eliminated two players and took almost 400,000 into Day 2. Day 2 will resume Sunday at noon.

At the end of the day, 21 players bagged and no one was even really close to Padilla. Chris Hovey bagged 190,500 and that was the next biggest stack.

Mike Fouts, who won this event in 2018, was among the many Day 1a casualties. He is expected to rejoin the field Saturday. Paul Strohm also failed to bag, after running pocket kings into pocket aces. Emily Larson was also felted with kings. She lost to trip aces after getting all in against ace-high.

The fields for Saturday will both likely be bigger than tonight's and PokerNews.com will be here throughout the weekend brining you updates and photos from the RGPS main event here at the Horseshoe Council Bluffs.

The RunGood Poker Series Council Bluffs Main Event Starts at 7 pm

The first week of the RunGood Poker Series All Stars Season is in the books and it's time for the first main event.

The first of three main event flights starts Friday at 7 p.m.

This season the All Stars promotion will send a casino champion and a main event winner from each stop to compete in a special tournament held in the PokerGO studio at season's end. Currently Rachel Keele and Jim Devaney are in the lead for the casino champion leaderboard. Both have won events so far with Keele taking the opening Pro Bounty tournament and Devaney taking down the Two Green Chip Bounty.

There is a three-way tie for second place with Chase Petree, John Lawson, and Matthew Storm each sitting at 20 points.

The main event champion will also get a seat, but the leaderboard could shift dramatically based on how these players finish.

There are three starting flights for the main event, the first is Friday at 7 p.m.

The players will start with 20,000 chips and play 12 30-minute levels before bagging for Day 2. The players who bag will return for Day 2 Sunday at noon.
