RGPS Tulsa Main Event Champion To Be Crowned Sunday

Day 2 Chip Leader Dakotah O'Dell
Day 2 Chip Leader Dakotah O'Dell

It’s been an exciting week of action at the RunGood Series Tulsa Series and it all comes to a head Sunday as the champion of the $600 Main Event will be crowned.

Through three opening flights, 472 entries created a massive prize pool of $245,440, far eclipsing the original $100,000 guarantee.

Star-studded fields have battled to earn their way into Sunday’s final day of play but only 60 remain with a chance at the $46,721 first prize along with the prestigious RunGood Contenders Series ring and a seat in the RunGood Pro-Am this December in Las Vegas.

If the title could have been won based on a player’s opening flight, it would be in the hands of Dakotah O’Dell and his 1,019,000 chips, but bringing a massive chip lead into the final day only earns you the same as everyone else Sunday, a $933 min-cash.

He will be the man to catch though with over 400,000 chips more to start the day than his closest competitor.

Players to Watch

While those may be the players with the biggest stacks to navigate around, there are plenty more talented players left that could make a run to the winner’s circle including RunGood ambassadors Kris Burchfield (120,000) and Julie Cornelius (94,000), who’ll actually be at the same table to start the day. They’ll have some work to do with a couple of the shorter stacks in the room.

Another interesting opening table will see Arkansas’ all-time tournament money leader Daniel Lowery (411,000) seated with RunGood Tulsa PLO champ Sam Lee (130,000) and Kaleb Dunn (197,000) who finished 3rd at RunGood Council Bluffs earlier this year.

Those are just a few of the stories to watch when cards get in the air at noon local time in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa poker room.

Play will resume with 11:47 left in level 13, the earliest endpoint for the three opening flights, and will continue through 30-minute levels with a 10-minute break following level 14 and then every four levels after that until a champion is crowned.

PokerNews will be there for live reports throughout, so keep your browsers locked right here.

Dunn Takes From Higbee

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Kaleb Dunn
Kaleb Dunn

After Adam Higbee raised on the button and was called by Kaleb Dunn in the big blind, the duo saw a flop of {j-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Dunn checked to Higbee who bet 18,000. Dunn called to see the {10-Hearts} on the turn.

Again he checked to Higbee who now bet 32,000. After a minute of deliberation, Dunn called again.

They checked the {a-Spades} river and Dunn showed {q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a rivered Broadway straight and the winner.

Cornelius Doubles Through Malott

Level 14 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Julie Cornelius
Julie Cornelius

After Mason Malott raised to 16,000 in the cutoff and was called by Taylor Peterson on the button, Julie Cornelius moved all in for 77,000 from the big blind.

Malott moved all in behind, covering Peterson's remaining 126,000. Peterson folded to leave the pot heads up with Cornelius at risk.

Julie Cornelius: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Mason Malott: {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

The flop brought the case nine for Cornelius along with plenty more as the dealer spread {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, flopping the RunGood ambassador a full house to instantly double her up as the turn {10-Spades} and river {6-Spades} were inconsequential.
